I think its description makes it clear - when the character has absolutely no clothes on them. If they have some clothes on, you would use some other tag, like “socks only”, or “partial nudity”.

Ponies don’t normally wear clothes (Thanks Applejack) so I believe the tag is dedicated to anthros and/or humanizations

I’d argue an animal sans any clothes is not ‘nude’. Nudity requires some degree of human (oid)ity. (We do use ‘nudity’ as the catch-all tag for suggestive-to-questionable-and-above exposure tho.)

The “cute” pun tags are so hard to keep track of, at the very least could “cute [character]” be aliased to each tag to make it autocomplete? I can never remember if it’s “diapinkies” or “pinkiebetes” and apparently the second one is a completely separate character. It gets even worse when you realize how many there are. There is no way anyone remembers all of this. I hate to be the fun police but having to search for each tag is not fun.

Agreed. I assume some people like the pun tags, but trying to remember whether that character has a pun on “cute” or “diabetes” or anything else and in what form isn’t fun. I second making “cute [character]” an alias to the existing tags.

Sometimes there’s a necessity in different names for those. “windybetes” was used for Windy Whistles, but then came the G5 pony Windy and so “adorawindy” had to be used.

A lot of the time one is made and people just coalesce around it. Same with some tags in general.

I feel like that isn’t the first case of something like that happening. That’s a good case for just going with “cute [character]” as the main tag.

Honestly, if I were king, I don’t know if I’d keep them at all. Searching “[character], cute” should suffice, and cute tags are very arbitrarily applied anyway, so we could probably do with fewer of those.

Question about the tag i watch it for the plot which was very popular since the beginning of this fandom.

Now I noticed the site’s staff removing that tag from images and replacing it with pictures of butts.

So, does it mean that that original tag is dead, and now we a have a new one? Or is there some clarification on that.

And I hope it won’t happen to the tag i watch it for the ears that I created (mostly for G5 MYM, as it has a lot of various adorable ear movements). It became quite popular by now.

There were a couple of discussions about it approximately a year ago suggesting to shift i watch it for the plot to identify that meme, rather than mere screencaps where a butt is showing. At a glance, I don’t see the mods having posted in that conversation at the time, but I guess they agreed and started acting upon it.

I’m not aware of i watch it for the ears being used as a meme phrase, so whether it’s good to stay as it is, I don’t know.

This is maybe a little tangential, but pictures of butts seems to follow the template of pictures of legs, a tag for images focused on legs, typically cropped screencaps. “pictures of butts” is practically all cropped screencaps. That said, butt focus and butt only also exist, with more images. My sense is that “pictures of butts” could either be aliased to one of those, or be defined as a tag for butt crops and imply at least one of those tags; and “butt only” could imply “butt focus”.

More on topic, I don’t see why “i watch it for the ears” shouldn’t be a tag, even if the name isn’t directly referencing anything.

Perhaps “GIFs of ears” can be added as an alias for “I watch it for the ears”, so there’s more parallel to “pictures of butts”. watch it for the ears ought to remain the canonical tag. It’s cuter.

Well, unofficially, the pictures of x tags are for neat, easy ways to *cough* identify posts of crops that come across like pointless spam.

Also, my point was that because “I watch it for the ears” doesn’t refer to anything, it’d be OK to leave that as the tag, different from the situation with “I watch it for the plot”.

I feel like this needs to be addressed rn because this is getting out of hand, well mostly because some people told me to just move my questions to these forums. Basically what I mean is some nsfw images having wrong tags on them but can’t be removed unless you report said image, but the only change is butt tags being added and nothing else happens. The tags I am talking about are noncon related tags being forced to stay on some nsfw images, even if there are actual consensual elements. Not sure if it is a glitch that prevents us from editing the tags or if staff accidentally pressed a button when editing tags, but I’m hoping that this log I’m doing will be heard and the tag editor will re-enabled on these images soon.

If she didn’t want it, she would used her magic to do more than just move her panties out of the way for him. And heck, she enjoyed being banged throughout the rest of the video. This isn’t rape. Idk who thought it was rape but whoever assumed it was probably took the panty sex out of context. I also don’t know how tags are locked since Derpy Whooves isn’t even a staff member so whoever has time, please remove the rape and grimdark tags.

Even the artist themselves confirmed it was consensual when I asked them on inkbunny. Not to mention that a bullet point in the description of rape says “Be careful applying this tag to images that depict consensual BDSM and “rough sex” style fetishes.”, which means that before you think about adding noncon tags, ask the artist if it’s consensual first rather than just adding it without understanding the context. Since the artist confirmed it being consensual BDSM, that means rape and grimdark need to be removed.

It’s likely some (if not most) of these are artifacts of mass cleanups after anonymous users who had, let’s say, problematic tag edit modi operandi. Tag change locks are for now an unavoidable protective measure on certain images, I don’t think we’ll be lifting those for the time being on and of these images. On any image with locked tags, if tag additions or removals are called for, users are welcome to report the image with their proposed changes, and staff will make them if useful.
