"Mouthpiece" should imply "out of character"

From Mouthpiece tag description: Using a canon character to further an opinion, agenda, or message (whether positive or negative) they would not normally have.

I’m not quite sure that would match with the tag.  
While an image with Fluttershy speaking about love on a real world topic could be mouthpiece, her taking a stance on kindness/love isn’t out of character.

That is entirely subjective. If a character is a mouthpiece then that implies a position which is inherently controversial. If it’s controversial then it’s not plainly black and white and one can’t assume a character will adopt a particular position (it may be likely for that position to be adopted but certainty cannot exist because the issue has nuance). For example, it is not OOC for any of the Mane 6 to oppose animal cruelty because it is not a controversial topic and it is a straightforward moral question. Drawing any of the Mane 6 supporting/opposing foreign intervention is OOC because that particular issue is external to their circumstances and one cannot assume a character would adopt either side.

I’m only disagreeing on the concept that if it gets erroneously added to an image, two tags would need to be removed instead of one, and people are bad at doing that.

Mouthpiece is out of character by its very definition. I am not sure how there can be any disagreement on the substance of this (as opposed to implementation, as per LB’s disagreement).

This can be nuanced, though. For example, M6 opposing animal cruelty vs. M6 supporting PETA. To someone who doesn’t know what PETA does (for reference, murdering dogs and tossing them into dumpsters, which is unsanitary as fuck; also abducting them to do this sometimes), they’re the same thing; to someone who does, the support will be OOC (unless, for example, M6 didn’t have full info and renounce PETA once they do).

Mouthpiece is used by significantly more filters than OOC.

Mouthpiece, at least as it’s been used here, does not imply a position that is inherently controversial. Some mouthpiece images are, but that’s not a requirement for an image to get that tag.

That does really seem like a valid concern. And there’s only, what … 21 images tagged mouthpiece that are also tagged ooc? So, there really isn’t a historical link between those tags in use. Unless the use of these tags is horrifically fucked up, adding this implication doesn’t seem warranted.

I am not seeing the relevance of this “lack of historical link”. Again, mouthpiece is OOC by definition, that it did not have the implication from the get-go is an oversight.

I made an improvement to the tag’s definition after finding it being massively overapplied. Something to note here is that a character reciting a real world political slogan might be vaguely within their character, but still mouthpiece because of how it’s more out of setting, so it’s not always out of character.
