New "photographic background" tag?

I’ve seen a number of pictures now that I would like to tag with photographic background, but I’m reluctant to create a new tag. Before I do, I’d like to ask here if you think such a tag is appropriate, or if you have any better alternatives for it.
Redundant as it might be to explain, this is to tag images that use an IRL photograph as a background, with art superimposed over it. There already exist all manner of ___ background variations, though they are mostly colours.

real life background is the tag for this (and “photo background” is an alias for it)

Depending on the image content, ponies in real life might also apply.

Given that I couldn’t find that tag, I feel like both should be merged into photographic background. After all, a photograph is the only way to convey “real life” in an image. I’m also uncomfortable with photo, and feel that it should be photograph, but maybe that’s just personal preference.

I understand the purpose of ponies in real life, and it doesn’t apply to what I was talking about. I’m talking about having a photograph in place of a background, not trying to imply that they’re “there”. I know there could be some crossover, but as far as context goes I think there is more or less a line between them.

I guess it depends whether the tag is truly meant for photographs, or also is meant for “real world settings” like if someone draws the Eiffel Tower in the background.

I’d guess you’re right, especially because “photo background” was aliased into it, and because “irl” (in real life) is restricted to photos. But, I’m not certain.

I think I agree with that too; it might make it clearer that it’s for pictures from a camera.

If anything I would think a drawn real-world setting would fit more comfortably in ponies in real life, given that the Eiffel Tower doesn’t exist in their universe. Of course that then dilutes the ACTUAL photographs. Those might need a tag more along the lines of real world location; that at least doesn’t imply IRL photography.

To summarise: photographic background for images with a photograph in lieu of background art (not influencing or influenced by the drawn aspect), ponies in real life for photographs including ponies either in-lens or composited into the scene (influenced by lighting, objects and/or composition), and real world location for fully drawn images of earthly locations (alt. “real world setting”).

Do those seem like reasonable changes?
