I’m trying to write an adventure fic, but the beginning is taking too long to make. Plus, I tried to write without looking back but I stop and go back and try to fix whatever error there is. Then I look at it as a whole, and then I feel frustrated and delete the entire thing.
 
This happens so much and I’m really annoyed with it. I can’t freewrite for anything.

Used to happen to me all the time. The only way out is forward. Just keep pushing and pushing, and remember that you can always go back and change stuff later. If you’re in a corner, bust your way out in the most incredible way you can imagine.
 
As an example: Rainbow Dash is trapped by a gang of monsters with no way to escape, and too badly wounded to fight her way out. Seems like the story is in a corner yes? Well I say fuck that. I say Pinkie Pie and Luna bust through the wall aided by El Santo and Bruce Lee, allowing Dash to escape into the rest of the story. By the time you’re ready to go back and edit your first draft you’ll look at such insane things and new solutions will present themselves that are categorically less insane. Things like, oh lets say Dash uses her brain to escape by dodging through the monsters legs as a small fast moving target so the monsters mostly end up hitting each other trying to get at her.
 
Another way: Reality ensues. In the above example, Dash does get killed, and the narrative shifts to another character. Kill your darlings. The story will take on a life of its own eventually, and when you try to stop it, that is when the flow will break down and you’ll hit our old friend writer’s block.
 
My final bit of advice is this, when you hit a wall on your current story, start another. The time spent working on another story will help you come up with solutions in the original. Don’t be afraid to abandon a story completely either.

I’m trying to write an adventure fic, but the beginning is taking too long to make. Plus, I tried to write without looking back but I stop and go back and try to fix whatever error there is. Then I look at it as a whole, and then I feel frustrated and delete the entire thing.
This happens so much and I’m really annoyed with it. I can’t freewrite for anything.
 
There’s something called the “three-draft-style” of writing. The first draft is where you just get everything down, and I mean everything. If you feel like writing in a character named Mr. Poopypants, go ahead. Your main character a blatant Mary Sue? Sure, why not? The point is, everything, no matter how stupid, pointless, or however much you hate it goes on the page.
 
The second draft, after a day or three of relaxation, is where you get down and carve away some of the unnecessary parts, maybe add a bit more. You might compare it to taking a lumpy rock and turning it into a nice statue, or at least something resembling a statue (this is only the second draft.).
 
The third draft, after another rest break, is the fine-tuning. You know that Mary-Sue character? Fix her, and really fix her, don’t just slap some quick bandage fixes and call it good. Plot-holes must be resolved or at least minimized. This is probably the hardest draft.

I feel as if the best advice has already been given, but as an alternative to writing through it, if you feel as if this isn’t working, take a break. Unlike a “real” writer whom faces the reality of deadlines, you have all of the time in the world. It seems harsh to say that you owe nothing to your readers, but really, you’re not being paid, and you’re doing this in your own free time, so you technically don’t. Take a break. Take a walk. Nap. Sometimes thinking too hard about where to go screws you up more than necessary,

  1. Might be good if it doesn’t get too dark. Revenge is sweet, but it can also corrupt your mind like nobody’s business.
     
  2. Love this pairing!
     
  3. If combined with #2, it might be very good.
     
  4. Oookay…if it’s a comedic anti-Twilicorn piece (Nyx is blatantly better at literally everything than Twilight and Twilight goes absolutely crazy trying to beat her at something), then yes. If not, then probably not.

Not to sound rude, Shadow, but make sure you use proper grammar in your stories. If you can’t capitalize here, I don’t know what your stories will end up like.
 
Normally, I wouldn’t care, but one thing that drives writers away is poor grammar.

I’ll be using word (assuming I can copy it onto this thing without issues) and that’s got spell and grammar check.
 
I just need to know which of those to go forward with.  
though im thinking less of 3 and 5 until later.
