Someone asked me to do a sequel to an MLP story I did long ago about Screwball. One that I had an idea for, but just didn’t really have the energy to do. It just shows that people care about these stories.

I don’t know about you guys, but when I write stories, I take notes from My Immortal and Sonichu.  
So I know no matter what I write, it at least won’t be nearly as bad as them.

Okay, now I’m working on the second part of the fic. I’d like to have the story laid out so, when I’m writing, I have something to work with.

6) Taking the idea from PonyPon, Fancy is going to pry the zebra for more information on the carriage, then boat, ride home. She doesn’t say much; it’s not that she doesn’t know New Equestrian (language) - she knows a little from her time under Lyrica - but she’s obviously crushed by her removal. Fancy is blissfully unaware of this.
 
7) The arrival home. I don’t really know what I’m doing for this point, so suggestions are craved,
 
8) Fancy’s getting older now, Zecora along with him. Royal Ribbon - yeah, she’s probably going to be his mum - plans to introduce him to his future wife. Zecora knows more New Equestrian at this point and we get some sort of cute “first date” fluff. Turns out Fleur is his future wife - damned if I don’t make her dress like this, because why the hell not, it’s not as if I’m going for historic accuracy - and she’s nice enough, bit of a romantic, turns out she’s a general in the army. I’m not sure where to take their relationship: whether they legitimately feel something for each other (I kind of want to make a cute balcony scene for the two of them in the dead of night), whether it’s strictly business, whether Fancy loves Fleur more than she loves him. Give me a few pointers here, the story is still in its development stage.
 
Also, apparently, when they wed, Fancy looses all of his possessions to Fleur, including Zecora. That’ll be more important later.
 
9) Love is in the air, evidently. As a proper colt must tend to the home and its affairs, he simply cannot go outside to the market: that’s servant’s work. So Zecora’s out and about in the market place when she notices, Big Macintosh going about his business. The story remarks that she’s been seeing him around lately, and, well, she’s attracted.
 
- Bonus Round - During all of this, Royal Ribbon is dying, and Zecora takes care of her even as Ribbon wrongfully calls her useless and yells racist slurs at her. Yet Zecora still pushes on, even when Fancy suggest hiring someone else for the task.
 
10) Insert some weird romantic plot where Zecora and Macintosh are meeting together secretly. It’s obviously taboo. Again, not many ideas for this one; I want to somehow connect Macintosh to Fleur. I’m thinking he stands out in the fields and oversees slaves. It calls the relationship into question.
 
11) Fancy notices that Zecora is getting slower, getting sick. Surprise, surprise, she’s pregnant. Well, Fleur’s gonna find out he’s sneaking around, discharge him, and the town ends up lynching him. Although honestly, I feel like that’s too…I don’t know, stereotypical? Dramatic? Any thoughts?
 
12) It ends up the babe’s a miscarriage. Oops.
 
13) We’re nearing the wedding date of Fleur and Fancy. Zecora literally has nothing left but her master, Fancy, and even he’ll be gone because she’ll technically belong to Fleur.
 
14) “You’ve suffered enough.”
 
Fancy has been trying to grant Zecora her freedom, but she keeps declining it (“I appreciate your noble attempt, but wherever I go I’ll be held in contempt.”). Finally, he manages to find a way to sneak her onto a boat heading for their version of Africa - again, suggestions for how he does this is appreciated - and the day of, they have their goodbyes. He’s walking to his mother’s room after her leave when he notices a box on the bed, which catches us up with the beginning. He opens it: inside is that plush rabbit, the one taken from him so long ago.

Goodness, that’s all so morbid and sad.
 
Fleur should start off all business, and we get a peek at something more as it goes on, but how far you want that to go is all your decision.
 
Some part of me wants Mac to survive, to get saved or run away. But that feels a tad too idealistic. Maybe he tries to face the music but gets saved against his will? (“Criminal or Master, we won’t let you face disaster!”)
 
And for Zecora to escape? Maybe those guys who helped Mac were ‘convinced’ to go back for her?
 
And the box is a good idea. Keep that.

You would have to honestly try to be as bad as them. I’d hope that things like “Use proper spelling and grammar” and “Don’t be an asshole” would be common knowledge when writing fanfics.

I was more serious in regards to My Immortal. I make sure to explain things in my stories and not just say “This happened and then this happened”

Yeah, all business sounds good. The thing is, even if the gender roles are switched here, I don’t want to make Fancy seem “feminine”, so I’ll have to work around that.
 
It’s mostly because the thought of hunting being considered a pastime of “inferiors” makes me giggle.
 
Perhaps we can have him almost saved, but have something terrible happen. Screw the readers over a bit, because I’m an asshole like that. I just don’t want Zecora to be hurt in the action, and I don’t know how to throw her in there without being hurt. I think I’m going to take a cue from my all time favorite manhwa, The Color of Heaven, and have Zecora hear about the lynching from house gossip - apparently, he had the crap beaten out if him and he was laid out on a mat on the outskirts of town to be dragged off by a timberwolf or die, whichever came first - and when she goes to see him, there’s nothing there but a blood trail. This indicates that he either crawled away, or that something took him…
 
And then later, it’s revealed that he was dragged away by a couple of do-gooders who, unfortunately, couldn’t save him. As compensation, they decide to take Zecora back home, as one of them is a captain of a ship.
 
The box will stay, of course; it’s actually the first idea I had in the writing of this story.

From the headcanon inspired by ‘‘Shedding Anxiety’’ (hilarious short story, good world-building). I don’t know whether to make this semi-serious (Applebloom getting in touch with her roots), or silly (Octavia’s yearly prancing sneaks up on her, causing her to embarrass herself by randomly rolling around in a field, or prancing like a deer)
 
Applebloom woke up one fine spring morning, birds singing, sun shining. She could smell the apple trees standing outside her window, the fresh soil after last night’s rain, the clean scent of the breeze. She felt strange, however, like her body had a mild electric current running through it, but she ignored it, thinking it was just nerves since she had a presentation she had to present to the class today. After breakfast, she met up with Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, and they went on their way to school. Applebloom didn’t notice that every step she took on the dirt road leading out of Sweet Apple Acres left behind a little patch of sparse, newly-grown grass.
 
Taking her seat, Applebloom couldn’t help but fidget in her seat. She felt a strange urge to jump out the nearest window and go for a run, and run until she couldn’t take another step. Strangely enough, she wasn’t the only pony in class who had trouble sitting still. Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, even Ms. Cheerilee was lightly prancing from one hoof to the others. Perhaps Cheerilee noticed the restlessness from part of her class, dismissing class early, but Applebloom’s “nerves” didn’t fade. Saying a quick “I’ll talk to you later!” to Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, Applebloom sped home, reveling in the rush of wind in her mane, the feel of her hooves pounding the earth.
 
“Whoa Applebloom, where’s the fire?” joked Applejack as Applebloom entered the farmhouse, dusty and sweaty, breathing heavily. Applejack had a pretty good idea of what had gotten into her. She too felt the first stirrings within her the other day. Being older, she had more control, but she remembered the annual call of nature. It came every year, right around this time. It only affected earth ponies, and it was always around this time of year.

Personally, I can’t see that as anything but silly.
 
Now, I have a problem in my TwiBlood fic. I had that one comment that said they felt B was too lucky in his fights(of which he won two of), and I have this feeling I’d have to basically torture the guy to satisfy readers. I know that’s a dangerous way to think, satisfying viewers of fanfic, but just can’t help but feel like I should have a portion where Rare beats on him till he tells her he done nothing overtly sexual to Twi, only for one scene later to have her hold his arms while Aj bucks him in the stomach.
 
It might have to do with me being one of the few who don’t want him mutilated for minor grievances.

Hmmm… playing Rarity and AJ beating the crap out of him for laughs might be the way to go. Makes sure its a definite loss for him, and you’ll have something to point to when that criticism is brought up, however I would say that if you don’t feel its necessary you shouldn’t have it in there.

I have an urge to write about obscure background characters…
