Outbursts and Tears

Me just making random clips of ponies (including mine) have either outbursts, are sad, or both. DEFINITELY NOT because I’ve seen multiple clips of the ponies crying… actually it is

Based off of Parental Guidance:
Plot: Empire kept a secret from his family about how he was a Wonderbolt, the same way Rainbow did with her parents. But they find out and support him a _little too much. And eventually he blows his fuse.

AJ: Hey EJ!
EJ: Startled shout What are you doing here?!
AB: Why watching you practice of course!
AJ: We wouldn’t miss it for the world!
AB: Let’s go EJ, Let’s go! 👏👏
AB and AJ: Let’s go EJ, Let’s go! 👏👏
Other ‘Bolts walk out.
EJ: Would you 2 STOP IT ALREADY??!?!!!?!
chant stops
EJ: I’VE HAD IT WITH YOU 2 CHEERING ME ON! IT’S GETTING REALLY ANNOYING SEEING YOU 2 CHEERING AND CHANTING EVERY TIME I GET HERE! IT’S TOO MUCH!
AB: But…
AJ: We were just trying to boost your confidence.
EJ: Yeah! AND IT’S NOT WORKING! IT ONLY THROWS MY CONCENTRATION OFF TRACK AND MAKES ME LESS FOCUSED ON FLYING AS IGNORING YOUR- OBNOXIOUS CHEERLEADING! I’VE HAD JUST ABOUT ENOUGH OF THIS!
AJ and AB: …
EJ: I think, you 2 should go!
AB: But-but… sobs softly
AJ: Empire… I’m… I’m… sobs
Apple Bloom and AppleJack run off in tears.

Roughly based off of Tanks for the Memories
Empire never got the chance to say goodbye to his cousins, who were lost in a battle against Changelings in the Everfree. His friends (the Mane 7, not Sunset but Starlight) caught on though and tried cheering him up but he rejected it. It wasn’t until Rainbow, AppleJack, Twilight, and Starlight were the only ones left offering him their concern.
The 4 walk in to find EJ curled up with his face hidden, silently sobbing.
AJ: Uh… knock knock, sugarcube?
EJ: What do you want?
TS: We wanted to…
RD: To…
SG: To cheer you up after the…
EJ: Whatever…
RD: I know that look. I had that same reaction a while back with Tank (there’s the reference).
AJ: I know I’m stubborn at times but, this is a different stubborn. I wouldn’t expect this kind from you.
EJ: Whatever…
SG: Please Empire. Just let us help you.
EJ: What did I say? Whatever. I don’t need you 4 to cheer me up.
RD: But… we’re your friends.
TS: That’s what we do for each other.
SG: It!s what the Colts (his diseased cousins) would’ve done.
Empire started slipping up with his sobbing and it became noticeable.
TS: Oh boy um…
AJ: I know. You miss them. I miss them too.
SG: They were some of the first pegasi to want to become my friends.
TS: They taught me some qualities of mentoring I never even knew existed.
RD: And they taught me stuff I never knew was possible to be taught. They broke the boundaries of the Wonderbolt Academy.
Eventually, Empire started to actually cry. The 4 friends gave him some sympathetic looks and exchanged some looks to each other before starting a group hug out of sadness and sympathy. After a while, Empire regained composure and the 4 gave him some room.
EJ: sighs and sniffs Thanks guys. sniff Really. Thanks. I don’t know what I’d ever do without you.

My own clip when Empire loses his part in the Womdernolts due to a wing injury resulting in aerodynamic suspension, meaning he can only fly for short stints of time before his wings lock up. And to top it all off, he lost the magic in them, thus discoloring them to become black. He then fell into an emotional downward spiral, leaving him distraught and upset.
AJ: Did y’all hear about Empire being rejected?
RD: Of course I did! I was right there to see it happen!
TS: He told me through tears after he came back.
FS: Rainbow told me.
R: I can’t believe they could do this to him.
P: But I don’t understand why.
SG: Didn’t he get injured and lose the ablilty to fly AND the magic in his wings?
TS: Oh yeah, his wings are special.
RD: I don’t get it! Why would an injury lead to the end of his career?!

A while later, the group go to Sweet Apple Acres to hopefully cheer him up.
AJ: Empire Jack? Can we come in?
EJ: Sure…
The group walk in.
TS: You feeling ok?
EJ: Not really.
R: The poor thing looks distraught. How do we fix it?
P: Not sure. Hm…
FS: Empire, think about it this way. You’ll have more time to spend with us.
RD: More time to hang out.
SG: More time to work on mentoring.
EJ: And more time to dwell on this…
AJ: C’mon sugarcube. You’re not being yourself.

RD: I really think you shouldn’t think about it.
EJ: Can we lower the crowd in here please?
Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Rarity stepped out, however Scootaloo, overhearing RD and FS before, came in.
TS: Do ou want to just have it you and your sister?
EJ: You’re fine. But I’m just… torn. It feels like I’ve lost my purpose as a Pegasus.
RD: But, being a Pegasus doesn’t mean you HAVE to fly.
TS: That’s only a part of who you are, not who you are.
SG: I felt similar when I wasn’t able to make friends. But my friends rallied together to help. You were one of them, so I think it’s only right I give back for what you did for me.
EJ: But… this is different.
S: Girls, can I offer my condolence?
RD: Scootaloo? Where’d you come from?
S: That’s not my main concern right now.
The 4 give them some room. After some time it was only Teilight and AJ along with Scoots.

EJ: Scootaloo. Please. I’ll be fine.
S: No. I know that feeling.
EJ: How would you?
Scoot would flap her wings without flying.
S: I can’t fly either.
EJ: This is different though.
S: Not by much.

EJ: I appreciate the help but… this is different. You have smaller than normal wings, I have severely injured wings whiteout the typical magic inside them.
SG: You had magic in your wings?
EJ: Duh. I mean how else would I be able to keep up with Rainbow Dash or break the sound barrier or have slightly different wings?
SG: Uh… never mind.

S: You’ll be fine. You can find a way to live without your wings for the time being.
AJ: You do so much without using your wings. In fact, you barely use them at all. It!s no wonder you have strong legs and can buck apples off trees like I can.
Empire got some control over his emotions and hugged Scoots.
EJ: Thanks Scootaloo.
S: No prob.
AJ joined in on the hug.

Sibling Grievance
Another school day for the CMC. Test day. And about halfway through the test, Apple Bloom had to go to the bathroom (I’ll keep this somewhat SFW). But here’s the problem. Ms. Cheerilee wouldn’t let students from out of their seats until after the test was done, which would end the day. Apple Bloom barely made it through the day. After the bell ran, she BOLTED OUT and ran home. She just entered the house when she lost it.
AB: Aw man… ma sister’s gonna be really mad.
AJ: You can say that again. Why didn’t ya go before the test?!
AB: But I didn’t have to go before it started.
AJ: But you could’ve tried.
AB: I did though. Nothin’.
AJ: Go to your room. Now!
Apple Bloom went up with a blush as red as an apple.

She was in her room curled up on her bed. Empire opened the door.
EJ: Hey Apple Bloom! What’s wrong? What happened?
AB: I wet myself when I got home…
EJ: Oh, that’s ok. We all have our accidents.
AB: But Apple Jack’s mad though.
EJ: We’ll, it wouldn’t be the first time. I lost it working in the orchard last week.
AB: But she wasn’t mad at you.
EJ: I’ll go talk to her.
He went downstairs to chat with AJ.

EJ: AppleJack?
AJ: Give me help. Apple Bloom wet herself again.
EJ: Yeah. “Big deal.” Why’d you yell at her?
AJ: She ruined the floor.
EJ: Yeah. It’s not that big a deal. WHY’D YOU UPSET MA LITTLE SISTER?!
AJ: BECAUSE SHE SHOULD LEARN NOT TO HAVE ACCIDENTS! SHE’S GROWIN’ UP!
EJ: WELL THAT’S NO EXUSE FOR YOU TO NOT EVEN CARE THAT I LOST IT IN THE ORCHARD AND CAME BACK IN RUINING THE FLOOR!
AJ: WELL MAYBE YOU SHOUDL LEARN!
EJ: YOU SHOULD LEARN TO THINK AHEAD BEFORE UPSETING SOMEPONY!
AJ: YOU’RE LITTERALY YELLING AT ME!
EJ: I DON’T CARE! You know what?! I’m going to spend a week in Cloudsdale. WITHOUT AN ANNOYING TWIN-SISTER BUGGING ME ALL THE DARN TIME!
AJ: FINE, GO! I DON’T NEED YOU ANYWAY!

It was a long week for the Apples. Without the extra set of hooves and eyes to help out, the harvest was far behind schedule. But Empire was unaffected. In fact, he benefited, being closer to the Wonderbolts Academy.

But he was still mad. Every time he thinks of his sister, he gets frustrated. He won’t even wear his hat. Eventually, the magic in his wings faded slowly away and his performance deteriorated until his wings eventually failed completely, thus earning him the nickname Empire Jacked Up. Everypony teased him. Everypony but Rainbow, who stood up for him. Eventually his cutie mark’s colors faded to grey, and eventually faded completely. His cutie mark is powered by magic. More specifically, the magic of friendship. But when he shuts out his family, the magic in his wings, cutie mark, and even Element of Harmony fade away as a punishment.

Eventually, he had to take a week off. A letter was sent from Ponyville from Twilight.
“Dear Empire Jack,
I understand you and your twin have had a bit of an argument. But you and I both know what you’re doing won’t help. Your family is struggling and she’s not been the same lately. Neither has Rainbow Dash in fact. She’s been acting differently around AppleJack. I’m worried this grievance will tear us apart in the not so distant future. I’d like to talk in private when you get the chance.
Your worried friend and fellow mentor, Princess Twilight Sparkle”

On his way to Twilight’s, ponies started whispering rudely about EJ’s blank flank, which he was well aware of at this point. He then ran into Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara, who teased him about it AND for his “terrible” mane.
TS: HEY!
Twilight came and hushed them up. They stopped and went away.
TS: Hey Empire. We need to talk.
A bit later in the CoF

TS: Empire, I need to chat about you and AJ.
EJ: OK?
TS: You may not know this but… your flank is blank and your wings are smaller than normal.
EJ: I know about my wings but wait HOLD ON. checks flank Oh no. favehooves
TS: Not only that, Celestia told me your Element of Harmony lost its color and magic. The magic in your Element, wings, and cutie mark run on family love. However, when you lose that love or push one of your family members away, you lose that magic.
EJ: Oh man…
TA: I’ve talked to AJ and she said the farm isn’t the same without you. Apple Bloom!s worried, Big Mac misses you, Granny Smith’s worried, your whole family is worried.
EJ: I… i… I have to talk to AJ.
TS: She’s by the front door.

Goodbyes are Hard, EG
Empire was going on deployment for the Bounty Hunters of VFA-2. It would be a long time before he’d be back and he was just arriving at the airport when he saw his friends. They were there to see him off.
EJ: Hey guys. Here to see me off?
Sunset (not saying $$ because I don’t want to upset anyone): Yeah.
TS: We’re sure gonna miss you.
FS: Be safe.
R: We’ll see you when you get back.
Pinkie: Don’t take too long.
Once it came to RD, she couldn’t talk. She went and hugged him. Empire returned the favor.
RD: I’m gonna miss you so much, Empire.
She said that with honesty and tears in her eyes.
EJ: Hey hey hey. It’ll be alright. I’ll be back. And I’ll miss you too. All of you.
Once he got to AJ, she hugged him, but without as much emotion.

AJ: Love you, Jack.
EJ: Love you too, sis.
The group then went to join a surprise line of people, mostly all his friends (ie fellow NASCAR competitors, classmates, Crystal Prep students, and the Apple Family). The Mane 7 were at the end, who all exchanged hugs. After the Jacks’ hug, they did their traditional hat swap. They mirror each other’s actions, which has them tip their hats, toss it to the other hand, then to the other twin’s corresponding hand. They then take a bow towards a crowd then salute. The crowd applauded and Empire walked to his jet. He was to fly out with select wingmen and women in his Bounty Hunter F/A-18E, their only single seat model.
