Sarazanmai ep 2. I understood that reference.
Anyway, its themes become a bit clearer with this ep. This show (I think) seems to be about connecting people with weird desires and secrets that can’t be understood by many others on a surface level, the connection being we’re all fucking weird and damaged. There’s even a pair of police officers who police people’s desires, and they appear to be the villains. (From a meta perspective, the similarities to the anime community are probably not on purpose but it’s there.)
There’s probably more at stake here than just secret fetishes, with the drugs and the waterboarding and the Instrumentality scene. Also, the butt stuff is actually part of the central conceit and the stock footage, so it’s gonna probably be in every ep. This one’s gonna be weird, but it seems like it has something to say.
Carole and Tuesday ep 2. The characters have already shown to own multiple outfits. This is truly a landmark anime.
For real, the level of cynicism towards algorithms defining art is actually reaching a level that strains my suspension of disbelief. It’s like it was written by a conspiracy theorist. At least Angela was there to add some contrast to those scenes.
The main characters feel very accessible and relatable. Really excellent bonding between the two this ep.
I liked how they forced themselves onto the stage, and then got chased away by the police. Didn’t think the characters or the show be that brazen, at least not this early. I suppose it’s a matter of the taste, but I feel like the warmth in CandT’s music is quite palpable, certainly compared to the presumably AI-generated music. This has been a lot of fun but, objectively, the show would benefit from being a little more subtle.
