Anima Yell ep 10. A consistently funny ep, with lots of ship-teasing. I forget why Kana doesn’t like her name, but the club bullying her about it was cute. I liked that Uki and Kana really seem to understand each other now. I appreciate the girls taking Hizume off Kana’s pedestal in a gentle and classy way. Kohane maybe be oblivious about feelings directed towards her (because of her selflessness) but she still has a knack for understanding others, and Kotetsu has some experience with love, being Kon’s friend. Seeing them walk Kana through things was really wonderful. By comparison, Uki’s talked to Hizume in a more straightforward manner, since it’s the best way to get through to her. All in all, it was very satisfying to watch them grow to understand each other. This show is pretty legit.
I also liked the way the ep buried the lead, that Hizume is rich enough to own a fucking gigantic beach house.
Aikatsu Friends ep 35. The ep opens with Kaguya scamming the whole room and I loved it. The show then proceeded to literally dig up their past, but in the cutest and most wholesome way possible. They also had two stages this week, including Kaguya’s solo stage, which is the Best in the series. I love this show.
Tsurune ep 8. Oh man, who would’ve guessed they’d end up facing against Kirisaki head on. :|
Well, despite going for the rather rote “twist,” it was done pretty well. Really good expressions for the Kazemai team, and they were able to show how much Team Asshole got in their heads without even interacting with them. I’ve enjoyed the way the show has handled Kacchan, they just keep hitting him while he’s down. I guess the idea is he’ll just pop out the other side eventually. I liked Nanano’s talk with Minato, finding motivation outside of just hitting targets. It came down to a simple moment of catharsis for Minato, and it was shot beautifully. The three-dimensional feeling as the arrow spun in slow-motion was lovely. A great build up to his first hit.
This show might still be alright.
Hugtto ep 43. The conclusion to Homare’s character arc. I think it’s weird that Emiru and Lulu don’t understand how Homare can be in love with a mouse (who can turn into a man, and is also a single dad), when they are a couple and one of them is literally a robot. At any rate, I never really felt a strong connection between these two, so I didn’t feel much for the ep. I did really enjoy Homare’s talk with her mother, who explained to her that love is complicated. (The show also seems to imply that her parents are divorced?) I also liked Harry not treating her like a child when he turned him down (spoilers). Still, Hana’s inevitable mental breakdown will likely be more interesting.
Golden Kamui ep 22. I like that, even though the story has progressed this far, they still take the time to show the party making Ainu dishes. They also totally telegraphed that something would go wrong right away. I do like that they confirm that
the guy wasn’t Asirpa’s father because they don’t have the same eyes. I’m sure the ending would’ve been cooler if it wasn’t in the dark. I guess we’ll get that kind of ending for the series as well.
