It is utterly fantastic, in my humble opinion.  
The characters are a joy to watch, the writing is extremely funny, the mysteries are very well set up and the animation is very nice as well.
 
I recommend it highly.

Gravity Falls is pretty great and the first two S2 episodes had more THINGS happening than most of the entire first season.

Agreed, especially The whole situation between Dipper and Wendy, which was handled beautifully.

I’m glad this got made since I’m trying to remember most of the show. After the whole S1/S2 rift I forgot a couple things so I’m going back to watch the old episodes (sooner or later).

I haven’t even finished watching Season 1 because I missed it.

It was pretty epic.

I loved it, it felt like a very sad, in-depth analysis of Old Man McGucket.

I’d like to know more about the portal too.  
Maybe all the creatures in Gravity Falls came from the portal  
So maybe he is trying to get rid of them all, especially Bill Cipher; so Gravity Falls can be normal (again?)  
Also what do you think about the theory of Stan having a twin named Stanley  
A lot of people now think that his twin wrote the journals

I’ve started getting into Gravity Falls (as you can see by Giffany over there)
 
I’ve watched the first three episodes so far as well as Soos and the Real Girl
 
It’s pretty fantastic so far
