So far, the only new content that we know about is the Dungeon builder.

Also apparently if Dungeon editor in link’s awakening is well received we may get a proper Zelda maker (key word being may)

And apparently, some new/changed features are characters have more three-dimensional smoother movement, some enemy A.I. is improved, some characters designs are updated, (like Hippo lady hehe) and your shield is equipped at all times with it’s own dedicated shoulder button like other newer Zelda games. So more buttons are ganna come in handy.  
Plus, the intro & ending cutscenes are fully animated, similar to the Gameboy game’s well drawn intro & ending semi-animated scenes.

Neat!

Huh. Looks like people are liking the remake more than I expected.

So far there are some notable differences in the Link’s Awakening remake already. Particularly seeming to have more Heart Pieces, and after you get the Yoshi Doll from the Trendy Game, a Chain Chomp doll with the Bow you give the small female one appears there (no clue what its function is yet though).

Did the claw game in the original actually drop items like an actual claw game?

Some enemies seem to fight a li’l differently too, like the Moblins.

Once the claw grabs an item, it doesn’t let go luckily, so it’s better then a real claw game. (At least, in the original Gameboy & DX Color versions.)

There are also apparently more Secret Seashells to find.
 
Although in the remake the Yoshi Doll can potentially be dropped in the Trendy Game, but now the other items are stationary (though a couple are on moving platforms instead). The other items still can’t be dropped though.

There’s also more rewards to get from the Secret Seashells, though I have to wonder if this also means that you don’t have to bring the EXACT amount of shells to get those rewards anymore.

Unfortunately the game still tells you what the seashells, garden acorns and pieces of power do every time you get one

Ironically, you could skip that message quickly in the original B&W Gameboy version, just by pressing B.  
So that’s still one thing the original has an advantage over the GBColor & Switch remakes.
 
Oh, and the crane game never dropped things. (Same for the Color version.)

Another thing that does make the game a bit easieris that because the switch has more buttons the sword and shield have their own buttons and don’t take up item slots.  
One thing I think would have been cool is that if you scan non Zelda amiibos you get dungeon rooms themed to the franchises of the amiibo

You can still press B to go through text faster in the Switch version actually.

Fun fact about Link’s Awakening: it was actually inspired by David Lynch’s TV series Twin Peaks. While the game doesn’t directly reference that show, it basically has the same concept of a quirky town that operates on dream logic. The show was quite popular in Japan at the time.

Also, I appreciate that they give you a “Seashell Sensor” for collecting 15 Secret Seashells (since there are a lot more of them now)… but I really wish it were a lot less vague.

With the exception of the Seashell sensor, are the rewards given by the mansion basically the same?

Yeah, but you could still skip them completely, and much quicker in the original Gameboy game. I don’t get why they removed that for the Color & Switch versions.
