I always assumed if Cranky Kong was supposedly the original DK, but old, then DKC DK is DK Junior grown-up.
In fact, DK Jr. was pretty big in “Super Mario Kart,” only a few years before DKC.

Then of course there’s the “Gameboy Donkey Kong” 1994 game, (the one where you’re Mario) which featured tie-wearing DK, and DK Jr. making things more confusing.

I love the 16-bit games that were added into the latest Mario & Sonic Olympics, although while it is awesome to see Sonic sprites I don’t get why they went with the Super Mario Bros sprites from NES. I mean Mario and friends do have perfectly rendered 16-bit sprites from the SNES, seems odd to not go with them.

One thing: if you ever played Superstar Saga, have you in mind when Mario came up with that clever backup plan to save Peach after the initial one to trick Bowletta and Fawful with the fake Bean Star failed? When he made Luigi dressing up as Peach to make then believe the kidnapped a fake Peach so they would release the real one and take Luigi so he could retrieve the Star Bean? I kinda wish they have shown more often this side of Mario instead of keeping him constantly as just a mute character.

Mute characters can still be pretty cool/entertaining, so I don’t mind.

Plus honestly, while Charles Martinet’s Mario voice is iconic & classic nowadays, it’d probably get annoying if the character was too chatty.

@Dr_Osaka
I guess the 8-bit Mario sprites are more iconic, plus taking Bowser’s form, (and the fact you only see half his body) in “Super Mario World,” it might be difficult to use sprites like that in the game. His NES sprite is more compact, and more in line with the size of the Sonic characters.

There’s “Super Mario All-Stars,” as well, but as I said, those sprites don’t seem as iconic as the old 8-bit ones.
Admittedly, I like Mario’s walk animation better in the original 8-bit SMB, then the one in the 16-bit remake. (Ironically, the 8-bit one has more animation frames.)

I never heard of that, though famously part of his King Koopa costume was reused from a “Barbie/Mario on ice” TV special, or something (Starring Mr. Belvedere as King Koopa.) and the only difference is they added a mask. (Mr. Belvedere just wore bad green facepaint.)
Koopa also gave away Mattel Power Gloves for NES kids. So bad!

I saw that Mario on ice thing on Youtube… It makes the SMB movie look like “The Godfather.”

That’s the Mr. Belvedere Koopa I was refering too, (The masked one in “King Koopa’s Kool Kartoons” was a different actor.)
I saw that “Mario on Ice,” thing on Youtube, it is by far the worst Super Mario adaptation I’ve ever seen.
You think the “Super Mario Super Show” was cheesey? Mario on Ice makes it’s worst episodes look amazing. (That said, I actually love the “Super Show.”)
Mario on Ice has to be seen to be believed.

The only good thing about it is, the stage set looks like basically a 3D adaptation of the original SMB game, (kinda like in SSB, and such) pixels, and all, and looks well designed.

I didn’t actually see that comment.
The show has Luigi straight up blowing up the enemies. I can obviously tell the people behind both shows saw no point in archiving or rereleasing so all we have are VHS tapes recorded from TV

That’s not right…

@northern haste
I actually love the cornball classic D.i..C. Super Mario cartoons, and “Super Show” is still my favorite of the three.
Though, frankly I wasn’t bothered by Oogtar in SMWorld, and he only appeared in 4 episodes.

And granted, alot of cartoons in the ‘80s & ‘90s period had many animation mistakes. (Like a character’s mouth moving when another character is talking, or, characters being miscolored.) The show “Garfield & Friends” even had an entire “spot the mistakes” episode making fun of how common that was back then. (Remember that next time somebody says Garfield is “lame.”)

@Shepherd
Doubtful, especially sense Mario fans didn’t seem to care for the Broodals, (I saw many write them off as “Koopaling rip-offs”) which is a shame, ’cause I liked them.

Fawful other than being one of the funniest Mario characters, was also one of the cleverest villains. In Bowser’s Inside Story when he failed with a plan, he instantly came up with another one (for instance he wanted to make Midbus defeating Bowser in order to get Princess Peach out of his body, but then Midbus got defeated, then he made him becoming fat so he could have him standing in a place and getting the Princess). Even at the very end, after he was defeated, he tried to kill Mario and Luigi with a kamikaze attack, and even thought he failed and made everyone out of Bowser’s body, at least he tried. Was quite of a persistent villain wasn’t he?

One of the best things of Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the return of portrait ghosts, even thought these ones don’t go into portraits. One of the things that the second game was lacking was the total absence of ghosts with personality that made the first game great. The third game fixed that and made those kind of ghosts returning.
