What’s your least favorite song by a dead singer?
 
My least favorite David Bowie song is his 1984 hit “Blue Jean”. The chorus is AWFUL! It has an out of place marimba xylophone that also plays throughout that makes it sound like a Jimmy Buffett song, the instrumentals are loud and collapse on top of each other especially those horns, and Bowie’s yelling is unbearable. Did I mention that this came after “Let’s Dance”, one of my favorite songs by him?

I’ll go with Prince for this; out of the songs i have actually listened to (which is most anyway, but most of the relases of the 1996-2004 period is missing from my playlist): “Daddy Pop”. the basic beat is kind of decent, but it’s far too overproduced.

Too late, I listened to it and I wish I didn’t. This is the price you pay for being a music connoisseur: you want to go out and listen to a lot of stuff, even the things people tell you to keep away from.

One thing I noticed about the song after I finished listening to it was that it reminded me of John Mayer’s 2003 song “Your Body Is A Wonderland”, another awful song. Also, I loved how in the video, the band mates save for Freddie looked so bored while snapping their fingers, couldn’t keep a straight face.

Yeah, they didn’t even get to do anything goofy as hell, like in their later ’80s videos. (I particularly love “I Want to Break Free,” where they all dress in drag. XD)

When it comes to Queen’s 80’s works, I love “Radio Ga Ga”.

That’s pretty great. Admittedly, I’m a fan of their more guitar-driven pieces (I’m incredibly biased, though), but ’80s Queen in general is underrated. I hardly ever hear anything from Queen post-1981 on the radio.
 
Did you know that they did the soundtrack for both the movies Flash Gordon and Highlander?

Yeah I know. “Flash” in particular is a really cheesy song, but damn do I love listening to it.

Indeed. Though the Highlander soundtrack in general seemed a bit less goofy. “Who Wants to Live Forever” in particular still makes me cry, especially given the song’s triple meaning (Brian May wrote it after his dad’s death, it was used in the movie when the protagonist was discovering some of the… downsides of immortality, and it became extra heartbreaking in hindsight after Freddie Mercury’s passing).

Blame the adult contemporary trend of the early 90’s popularized by Michael Bolton. Other victims of this trend were Phil Collins & Genesis, Richard Marx, Elton John, Paula Abdul, Madonna, Gloria Estefan and Eric Clapton.

When did I say I hated “Tears In Heaven”? I LOVE that song, it’s probably my favorite song of 1992, and Eric Clapton was one of the few artists who pulled adult contemporary well alonsgide Richard Marx and Elton John.
 
Speaking of that song, it was another unfortunate victim to never reach number one. It stayed at the number two spot for four weeks blocked by Vanessa Williams’ “Save The Best For Last”.

Ah, good to hear. It’s a beautiful song (and especially sad if you know the context in which it was written, after the death of Clapton’s friend and fellow guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the death of Clapton’s four-year-old son Conor seven months later).
 
Oh, right! I missed that you listed Elton John on that previous comment of yours. Nice catch.
 
While we’re at it, though, did you know that Michael Bolton started off as a metal singer?
