Y’know, Piranha Plants are actually the most common enemy in the original SMB (Super Mario Bros.) even more then goombas, and troopas, which justifies them being playable in SSB over them even more.

Anyone think we’ll get a second character reveal in E3?

Because after Joker it will be a surprise.

Version 3.0.1 just dropped that fixed a bug, where winning with a Final Smash while on Joker’s route in Classic Mode would cause the game to crash.

It’s kind of bullshit that you only get one life for classic mode in Ultimate. At least 4 the decency to give you an extra.

On the bright side, if you continue you don’t have to start the whole fight over (and you can use a Classic Ticket to prevent the intensity from going down).

So how exactly does unlocking new fighters work in Ultimate? Do they just show up at random?

You can unlock them in the adventure mode, but you can get by just playing enough Vs matches.

It’s…complicated. Rather than play a certain number of matches, one will show up each time you start a match and either finish or quit it, including Spirit Board battles or whenever you exit “World of Light”. However, whether you defeat it or not, you have to wait 10 minutes for another to be triggered, though this can be bypassed by quitting and starting the game again.
 
Any fighters you don’t defeat will wait in “Challenger’s Approach” in Games & More after a set time is done.
 
Also, there’s a predetermined list of when they’ll show up.
 
Again, it’s really complicated to explain how and when to get the one you want to appear. Personally, I’d rather just unlock everyone in “World of Light” since I have Spirits and Adventure Skills to make the fights easier.

If you lose to the character don’t worry you will get the Challenger door.

I gotta admit: Ryu’s classic mode run was hilarious.
