Strangely enough, telling me that I basically sold my friend into slavery when all I did was quickly trade him back to the game he came from to teach him a TM is NOT MAKING ME FEEL BETTER.

It always resets the friendship when you trade, even if it goes back to the OT.
Lately you seem to be having problems with things that are old news and should of known long ago, like the in game time reset for changing the system clock that was a thing for a lot of the games since moving to the DS.
From Bulbapedia: “Trading a Pokémon also resets its friendship to its base value, unless it is being traded back to its original Trainer in Generation VI or later, in which case it regains the friendship it had before being traded away.”
What’s that, Mr. “Should-have-known-it-long-ago”?
And like I said with the clock, I DID know what was up when it happened, it was just extremely annoying because the time on my 3DS was forward by one hour so I put it BACK. And the game punished me for, in effect, making my Pelago stuff take LONGER. Like, what was I supposed to do? Leave the clock saying the wrong time? (No. The answer is no. A clock that says the wrong time entirely defeats its own purpose.)
