Huh, that’s interesting.
Yeah, aside from anime, action cartoons have been unfortunately dying off in favor of only comedy cartoons. Which is ironically the opposite of what it was around the early 2000s, when almost everything had to be action, adventure, or anime, and hardly any slice-of-life shows.
Even the “Fruit Loops” commercials had to be action adventure oriented.

I think they look ok, they’re a li’l more simplistically drawn, so there are some minor differences.
Besides, Sonic fans would have a cow if they changed Sonic & Tails in even the slightest way to match the show style.
I honestly don’t mind seeing Sonic drawn in other styles sometimes. (But if overdone, like the Sonic Archie Comics’ “uber-anime” phase in the early 2000s, it gets old, I like variety.)
That was actually something I miss about the Archie Sonic series. Seeing variations in styles like Patrick Spaziante, Stephen Butler, Tracey Yardly, J.Axer, Ben Bates, ect. was kinda nice sometimes.
Frankly, I see hardly any differences between the current IDW Sonic artists, or the Fleetway one/s. They all look done by one person.
It’s fine if some fans prefer Sonic being more on-model, but some get too obsessive on that.
That said, I wouldn’t mind the new movie redesign looking slightly different from the game model. Honestly, I feel the big uni-eyes, rubberhose skinny limbs, and such might look odd in live-action.
