Are you sure? It looked like Butler’s style, but it’s hard to tell, as Ken does do similar glossy eyes. (Anyone got that issue?)
Indeed, Knuckles is still Sega’s character, (even an Alternate Universe/Future version of him) and it still looks blatantly like him, rather then using an lawyer-friendly expy of him. It also highlights Ken’s hypocrisy that he doesn’t want Sega/Archie/BioWare using his concepts, (without compensation) but he’s fine using others’.
Ken even contradicts himself, on Twitter, he put the blame on Sega/Archie for why his characters were removed, (some of his fans bought it) and tried to claim they were “free” to use his characters/concepts, yet I remember on his website (I’ve been there myself) he said he didn’t want them using his stuff without paying hm, crediting him, and such. So they aren’t so “free” to use it.
Some of Ken’s fans (note: I am one too, but at least I can admit Ken’s no saint) are even trying to put the blame on 2006-present Sonic comic writer Ian Flynn for getting rid of Ken’s characters. Which is ironic, because if Ian wanted to get rid of them, he would’ve done it a long time ago when he had many chances to, (like with the Egg Grapes, or the first Genesis wave years before the actual reboot happened) and wouldn’t of been building up so many future plot points with the echidna dark legion, and such.
What’s even more ironic is, Ian Flynn is actually a fan of Ken’s stories, and even said he loved the “Knuckles” comics series. (Hence, why Ian brought back villain Enerjak, and such.)
So it’s ironic for Ken fans to demonize him, while Ian was the one keeping Ken’s legacy in the comics alive for so long.
