I’m not really following it on the Tumblr end, but since there’s such little activity under the baby war tag I’d assume at least most bronies here don’t give two shits about it and never did. It was just a proxy excuse for the usual gang of idiots to bitch and moan about the EVUL BRONEEZ(TM).
Most people who commented on that pic were playing along. The rest were one butthurt anon (obligatory Dragondicks), had no clue about what was going on to begin with, or were the usual flock of people who comment on every drama tagged pic.

I agree completely. Also, Uncle Grandpa’s voice is the basic annoying voice you do when you imitate someone you really don’t like.

Ok, this certainly seems like this’ll be pretty funny and well written, I’m sure. Still don’t think it was the best idea to make this episode canonical with the rest of the show, though. It’s kinda like if The Legend of Korra had a canon crossover with Fairly Odd Parents. Would be much better as just an April Fools silly episode.

My guess is that it is “canon” as in the lesson Steven inevitably learns in this episode sticks with him, or it establishes a kind of Cartoon Network mulitverse like oldschool CN had.
But even if this episode is the best thing ever, I don’t think I’d want Uncle Grandpa to return to this show. The comedic styles don’t match well enough for this kind of stunt to be repeated.

I dunno, I always feel like oldschool CN’s multiverse felt more natural seeing as most of the shows were pretty cartoony already (save for Samurai Jack). Or maybe we were all just more excepting of this kind of thing when we were younger. :I

I’m actually pumped about it. See, I trust the Crewniverse (and the UG team) to make this episode a fun to enjoy. Steven Universe hasn’t had any terrible episodes in its first season, and I don’t expect this one to be the first. Both creators of each show are friends, and they’ve wanted to do this special. The fans should at least respect that, instead of ranting and raving.
While the idea does seem out there, it’s not that big of a stretch. Uncle Grandpa is a reality warper so it’s easier for him to intermingle with other continuities. Also, his job is to help kids with their problems while having zany adventures, and he’s good at that. Episodes like him helping a kid be comfortable with his image or helping a girl not be afraid of the dark prove this, and show it’s not as mindless as folks make it out to be.
Another thing, I can understand if UG is not everyone’s tea. That’s cool. It’s a pretty wacky cartoon. Different strokes for different folks. It’s ridiculous there’s vitriol for a special that hasn’t even aired yet, and it makes the SU fandom look even more elitist and prick-ish instead of open and understanding.
I’m glad this crossover is 100% canon It probably explains why Steven made that massive shield in ‘The Return’ so the elitist SU Tumblrinas can eat their hats and deal with it. At the end of day, Steven Universe is still a kids show for everyone to enjoy just like MLP. Kids shows can be written well and be sophisticated. We have to remember who this series are targeted for when’s all said and done.

Uncle Grandpa is severely annoying to me. I bet there’s more to it once you get into it, but I’d watch something I can into easily and get invested in over time rather than something I have to force myself to watch until I can start liking it.
It’s not like Uncle Grandpa is as bad as other cartoons like Teen Titans Go or Breadwinners, but it does not have as concise storytelling as Steven Universe does. The feel of the shows is different, with Steven Universe being far more dramatic and serious, not to mention its building narrative.
This example may be a bit dramatic, but it feels a bit as if SpongeBob came into the world of Avatar.
Also, I don’t think it’d be very smart to release important plot details in a crossover with a goofy, humour-based character. Not because I dislike the character, but rather because it wouldn’t work very well from a story-telling perspective.
