The interesting part about Pink Diamond’s character is that we’re shown her character development backwards. Starting her off as this majestic and great person to a selfish brat, when in reality it’s actually the other way around.
Pink Diamond was a selfish non-empathical brat, but she changed, matured and grew up with the weight of her guilt on her back. Classic character development.

Though if Dirty Bit is to go by, it does lead the audience having a bit of a skewed view on her. Probably not helped by some of her earlier actions coming back to bite the closest thing we got to a current version of her, steven universe, in the ass (Spinal being the most obvious example and almost textbook example).

True, she may have felt guilt in her development, but it was miniscule at best. Didn’t help that Steven’s world was shattered when he learned more about his mother and what she did before he was born.
