Look up photos of early (<1950’s) Klan rallies and you’ll be hard pressed to find a Confederate flag. Lots of American flags though.

Then find another symbol of “southern pride” because no matter what you do it’ll be forever linked to one of the darkest chapters in American History. Why take pride in a flag based off of the Confederate States Of America? A country that treated people like property and started a bloody civil war against their own countrymen simply because they refused to treat their fellow man as human beings

Well if it’s just for historical purposes then that’s fine because I have no right to complain about that otherwise since I myself am Wehraboo trash. As morbid as it sounds, the Civil War (as well as other wars) is kind of “celebrated”, I don’t want to say celebrated but I lack the proper diction to call it anything else. But yeah, some people love learning about the Civil War (like meeee) and often latch onto a side. So yeah. If that’s why you have a CS flag then go for it, but that doesn’t mean I can’t point out that the CSA and it’s armies were fucking trash

There are quite a few places where the swastika still isn’t a Nazi symbol, and there are many different ways to depict a swastika in any case. If it’s true that a symbol’s meaning can change, you can’t expect either positive or negative connotations to stick to it forever.
 
I definitely don’t have any love for Neo-Confederates or the Confederate flag, but the nationalistic appeals against them seem disingenuous when they come from people who otherwise hate nationalism. You can’t betray a country you don’t think you’re a part of.

From a purely military standpoint, the whole Civil War was fucking trash. Between the obsolete tactics and the frankly mediocre generals, there were a shit-ton of unnecessary casualties on both sides. It’s the same story as World War I, just on a smaller scale. But we all needed something to feel good about after the war, so we all agreed to pretend that it wasn’t just a bunch of savage bullshit.

Ironically the same argument can be made for northern rationality. Prior to the Webster’s Compromise the north wasn’t seriously committed to abolition. But when Webster lead a compromise law through Congress to ease tensions he was seen as selling out northern state’s laws and enacting precident that made southern law superior to northern law. The South could ignore any and all laws in the north to retrieve slaves and it pissed people off.

Currently farmers, but the admin has been vaguely hinting at further stimulus, which brought the Dow up 200 points. Which still puts it nearly 600 down.
