The difference is Trump has a bit of a hardon for stuff involving Iran, since ‘the mean black man’ cut a deal with them. He seems intent on doing something over there. Just not entirely sure what.

I don’t think he’s sure either (which is most likely why he hasn’t done anything yet).
 
Maybe the idea of waging war with Iran is something he’d relish, but obviously somebody in his entourage must’ve managed to convince him, against all odds, that this was a bad idea, otherwise he’d never have cancelled in extremis that retaliatory strike three months ago.

That, and even with Bolton gone, there are at least a few Iran hawks still left in his administration, especially Pompeo, who’s been around for a very long time and seems to have earned about as much loyalty from Trump as he’s capable of giving. Venezuela still gets pointed to as a prop for how bad socialism is, but it doesn’t inflame conservative passions anywhere near as much as Iran’s 1979 revolution and hostage crisis.

For all his fiery rhetoric, Trump tends to back down from direct confrontation, and probably doesn’t, in his calmer moments, want war. It’s the opposition here that commands most of his attention because they attack him personally. But if Trump feels that he’s been backed into a corner and risks losing face if he doesn’t go to war, it’s easy to imagine him waging one. He’s too unstable to predict long-term.

Wildfires are actually made worse by the simple fact that we always prevent them. Same here in California.

Yeah, they’re caused by deforestation. The Amazon gets them due to deforestation which iirc gets rid of surrounding air moisture. And then all it takes is dry and hot air, dry wood, and a lightning strike, and wind, and then boom, wildfire.

It actually is in many cases. Especially here. We put out naturally occurring fires for so long that the buildup of dead vegetation and undergrowth becomes so thick that an eventual wildfire sparked spreads faster and becomes far more massive than normal.

That only applies to certain forests under certain weather conditions.
 
Forests that lack sufficient animal ground clear, such as the forests of your home state. Other forests and grasslands being plagued by increasing fires are not subject to the same issues.

And people keep deforesting the Amazon for farm and cattle land, even though it’s illegal, and Bolsonaro acts like there’s no issue. Hotter climates getting hotter, causing dryer air, etc.
