Comparative advantage. One country has a better steel industry, another has better manufacturing, another has better tech. It’s capitalism 101. So of course the neo-mercantilists of our time are opposed to it.

That’s true and pretty much inescapable sadly. My particular truck was built with American steel and Aluminum, but many other “American” vehicles don’t get that same treatment, unfortunately.

Superior parts are all I care about in my vehicle. If Japan makes the best electrical system, and the US makes the best trans, slap them together and make the best thing.
 
I don’t believe in releasing a deliberately inferior product on some half-hearted notion of economic patriotism.
 
I support my local farmers, local businesses, and local employees. When it comes to big expenditures like cars, I want the best.

Ford and Toyota are terrible brands.

I mean, I’m pretty sure some would consider import brands higher quality. I also don’t really buy the whole “buy american” when all of our shit is made offshore. And “american made” shit seems to be low quality. And Trump doesn’t seem to be doing much to bring jobs back from offshore.

Toyota is Japanese, though, and are known for making long lasting vehicles, Ford has been around forever and despite the memes, are pretty much the most solid American truck you can buy, with their raptor series not even having a true competitor since 2010.

How is Toyota “terrible?” They make some of the longest lasting cars around, which makes it kind of a decent investment for a low-income individual who needs a car.

So, it’s interesting seeing so many people freaking out,  
about Beto’s suggestion to do a gun buyback for ‘AR-15/AK-47’ weaponry.  
Making death threats, proving his point entirely.  
Hysterical, insecure man-children everywhere.
 
They can’t live with the idea of being without powerful weaponry.  
They feel helpless, naked even.  
They can’t even be satisfied with a regular hunting rifle, that’s not good enough.  
Like nothing is ever good enough for them. More security please, more consumerism please.  
It’s like most Americans are trapped in a pathological state of constant fear,  
and think their guns are some kind of holy talisman to keep the evil at bay.
 
Yet it makes no difference in the end.  
We will never be perfectly ready for every possible event in life.  
We will never just happen to have a stupid gun nearby when it’s ‘needed’ most.  
All these effigies of destruction do is spread fear and death.
 
Indeed, in many cases it is the owners of these weapons that carry the most terror of life.  
Like they cannot just enjoy the thrills and risks that life brings.  
Like they have to be able to control life and death at any moment… just in case!
 
And that’s not to say nobody should have any means or sense of self-defense,  
but when the answer is ‘kill the enemy’ way before ‘pacify the enemy’, that gives me pause,  
though apparently not so for many blood-thirsty Americans.  
Shout-out to the horrible Judge Dredd style cops of the USA.
 
These gun owners will never find peace in such a state of being.  
Fear is the mother of violence, by the way.  
Congrats, cowards, enjoy your beautiful dream.  
I for one am fucking sick of your gun-worshipping self-inflicted waking-nightmares.

I’d probably hate it too, if it wasn’t for little things like the aforementioned rallies to encourage the frothy mouthed cultists fans that make up his base, or his concentration camps for migrants that an Auschwitz survivor agreed was fair to compare to Nazi ones, or his failure to condemn a group of Nazis who incited violence during a demonstration, or the fact that people who identify as Nazis support him, or the fact that multiple experts on the subject of things Hitlery have pointed out many ways in which his actions and policies and behavior are disturbingly close to a certain historical figure who happens to be Hitler.
 
I guess what I’m trying to say is, I don’t hate it because it’s actually an accurate assessment of the man.
