I’m the “Think before you type” anon. Voice said “I apologize for what I said on the Latest D&D video. My peers tapped me on the shoulder and explained that its not about a staring contest. It’s about doing the right thing. I understand that my priorities were off, and I will think before I type” Thoughts on that?

Unless Voice starts pressuring others to actually DO the right thing, then it’s irrelevant. It’s easy to talk. It’s hard to do something.

Do something, or you’re just making a limp attempt to save face.

Words are not good enough anymore.

The Stubbornness of Pride: Brony D&D

The public consensus is that continuing to release the episode is a bad idea. 
Josh’s own friends have said the same thing. 
Toon’s victims have sad the same thing, and have voiced their extreme discomfort at seeing his face/hearing his voice. 
Perfectly good alternatives have been suggested that would still accommodate those invested in the current campaign’s story (i.e. recaps they ALREADY HAVE). 
It would take far less effort (and save a lot more face) to just upload the recaps. 
Toon’s actions are being normalized while victims are being ignored/silenced. 
It is totally common for groups to drop D&D campaigns, both because someone in the party turned out to be shitty AND for far less urgent reasons. 

Why is this still happening? All I can think of is pride and apathy for the victims.



If that remark about a “staring contest” is anything to go by, they view this as some kind of test of their conviction now. It’s all about “winning” in the face of public backlash. And the fact that this is ultimately centered around “social justicey” things like deplatforming, normalization of terrible behavior, ect, it just feeds into their persecution complex. Burnout especially.

As I’ve said a million times, a lot of people will claim to have support for victims, but those words are tested the moment that it’s time to demonstrate that through your own inconvenience.

They love saying they have support because they don’t have to actually do anything. They’re too lazy to get off their asses and do the bare minimum required. I’ve said this for a long time, a lot of their rhetoric about “respecting opinions” and “beware hypocrisy” and “there’s nothing we can do” is little more than a dogwhistle for the actual meaning behind it: “Not my problem, fuck you.”

Many of their nonsense about “free speech” in regards to comment filtering is little more than a guise for the real reason they let their comments section go unmonitored: Monitoring comments takes human effort. And it’s effort many of them can’t be bothered to spend.

If there’s no benefit in it for them, they just say “fuck you.” And Brony D&D is monetized, so there’s money to be gained in just posting them anyway and telling everyone who objects to go fuck themselves.

It’s a massive blow to some people’s pride to submit to public outcry, because that means admitting they were wrong to a lot people.

Supporting abuse victims, even in terms of public discourse, requires using (or at least thinking about) concepts like rape culture, normalization, triggers, enabling, etc. So yeah, it’s way too “social justicey” for some people to want to engage in, giving them all the more reason to not want to listen to the backlash.

And…wait, really? The episodes being released are monetized?
