Zootopia discussion thread

I haven’t seen one of these on here so ehh why not?
 
 
Discuss One great movie below.

One question I have about the movie is why do some of the cops like Judy wear bulletproof vests? The only guns we’ve seen in the movie are all non-lethal don’t shoot bullets…unless they’re stab proof vests.

She has what look like arm guards of some sort, probably in case someone tries to bite her. So j guess her vest is stab proof.

What do you guys think Chief Bogo’s first name is?

Still haven’t seen the movie itself, but how long do you think it will be until people start hating it like Frozen?

well, I think that || with the gun, you could replce the pellets with metal balls, so maybe they do have guns?||

Just because we don’t see lethal weapons in the movie doesn’t mean they don’t exist in-universe. It is a modern/near future world, so someone’s definitely invented firearms, and better for the ZPD to err on the side of caution. It would be useful if their armor was stab proof too, though, given how many animals have built-in weapons of some sort.

Hey, Frozen was good. (I prefer Zootopia by far, but still, nothing wrong with liking Frozen.) I can’t see why Zootopia would attract much hatred; Frozen kind of got overexposed with endless repetitions of Let it Go, but Zootopia doesn’t really have something like that.

Yeah, I still haven’t seen Zootopia but I don’t get the hate for Frozen. Still, if Zootopia does attract that type of hate, I’m just going to assume that the Internet has short term memory loss. XD

Hm…the chief did mention a SWAT unit if my memory serves me correctly. And SWAT does stand for Special Weapons And Tactics soooo…maybe regular beat cops like Judy don’t carry firearms while on patrol but the ZPD does have an armory full of firearms. Kinda like how European police work.

That makes sense, especailly if we assume that Judy’s tranq launcher from the teaser is canon. Those ought to be enough for any scenario short of kicking in someone’s door, with the added benefit of not really harming anyone they hit.

Yeah, that seems like it would work. Since we’re on the topic of the ZPD did anyone see any German Shepards among the officers?

Dogs and cats are assumed to not exist in Zootopia, as their respective animals never got tamed by humans.  
Also, we know that actual guns do exist because we see the timberwolves sweeping the asylum with tasers in that scene.

Here’s something kind of odd. Every time I see a summary of the plot, it’s this:
 
In the animal city of Zootopia, a fast-talking fox who’s trying to make it big goes on the run when he’s framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Zootopia’s top cop, a self-righteous rabbit, is hot on his tail, but when both become targets of a conspiracy, they’re forced to team up and discover even natural enemies can become best friends.
 
I’m pretty sure I know where that comes from, but why is it being used as a synopsis?

That doesn’t even sound like Zootopia. xD maybe the first draft for it.

Yeah, if I understand correctly, that’s the basic premise of the “ZooDystopia” draft, but that storyline was dropped something like a year before Zootopia premiered.

I’ve seen it both when I come across bootleg download sites and at my local theater. They used it in flyers advertising a bunch of movies they’d be showing, which I thought was kind of strange.
