Their Marks I thought have multiple layers: The red, purple, and orange means they’ll be BFFs Forevers and Evers Togethers, but each individual symbol is meant to show them their confirmed talents since S-damn-01, lol. Apple Bloom is a builder, Sweetie is a singer, Scoot is a speed freak (and LSD. ;3 )

The CMC giving up their cutie marks would mean giving up on their mission to help others with their cutie marks. Personally, I’m thinking they might eventually discover the significance of their individual talents, causing a change in at least the center of their cutie marks. (Those shades of purple on those designs looked suspicious to me from the start.) I would like the colors of the shield to have a more visually pleasing aesthetic, but I don’t think that the cutie mark should change entirely. That would horribly disrupt all the potential their new character arc has. Not to mention it would flatten out their character by a lot.

I could see Spoiled Rich standing by and giving Starlight words of thanks and encouragment for removing a special cutie mark from a filly who consorts with blank flanks.
