Well of course that last part is true. The staff doesn’t give a shit about the background ponies save for a select few. And FYI, Golden Harvest and Written Script were together in the same episode as the above screen shot. But beyond that, of course they don’t care about the background ponies and it’s really inconsistent. Again, Dinky was in Twilight’s class in the background. There is no “Canon” for background ponies, it’s all headcanon. It’s just fun to argue about it on the internet. Headcanon in general is dumb, take what the show gives you and enjoy it, nothing more.

Nope, those are all from “The Last Roundup”, except for the last one which is from “Just for Sidekicks”. And sorta from “Flight to the Finish”, where they re-used those two in the far background.
 
Also, believing Carrot Top is Dinky’s mother requires believing that she’s old enough to be Sparkler’s mother as well, and young enough to be Noi’s sister, going by “Sisterhooves Social”. Or, you know, admitting that background pony use is too inconsistent to be used for proof of canonicity. (Yes, including the above screencap.)

Maybe Dinkey a companion of the doctor.

It wasn´t my intention to double post, it just happened that Mr. Horrible had the same Picture in Mind and we posted it at the same Time.

Always best to leave these things to the fans themselves. I remember seeing screenshots and even looking back on some episodes that made me believe that Dinky is the daughter of Carrot Top and Written Script. Rarely do I hold onto anything headcannon, but I’m sticking to this.

Those are each from different episodes… seasons even… Jesus man. Four times have they been together and one time Dinky sits next to Derpy and you think that matters? Besides, just look at the fact Dinky has been in Twilight’s class during the flash back. They don’t care about Dinky at all, so have you head canon and realize some have more evidence then yours does.

I think Derpy and Ponet were married and dinky is their child(who she also have 3 sisters dizzy,dipsy and chirpy).Carrot Top is dinky s babysitter because i dont feel like carrot top being mom.Sparkler is dinky s half-sister(who she also has a twin sister named sea swirl) because her father is written script who derpy divorce him.

What Vree said. Background pony placement has always been whack, and only just recently have they been sorta stable with it.
 
So yeah, you canrepost that stupidly long screencap thing all you want, other instances in the show I could easily use to debunk you. I’d rather go with the headcanon that actually makes sense instead of shoehorning in Dr Who crap.

Sigh, you guys reposting that one The Picture does not equal “multiple times”. That is THE single instance, all from the same scene of the same episode.  
And yes, we all have seen it, EVEN before you posted it, we use this board too; now can you please stop reposting it in Dinky pictures.
 
I always say, if you have a problem with Dinky pictures, draw a good Carrot/Dinky picture!  
I’m yet to see a single good one.  
People are too busy reposting that one screencap to create anything of actual value apparently.

At risk of great ridicule, my own take on it:
 
Derpy and Written Script were married and Dinky is their child. They divorced, WS re-married to Golden Harvest, they share custody of Dinky and are all great friends because it’s hard to be mad at a pony so adorable as Derpy.
 
Also she’s in her late thirties at the earliest.
 
(and adopted sparkler becuz I like that headcanon too shut up)
 
I mean, realistically speaking, Amethyst Star is more likely to be her mother. They were sharing a picnic when AS had a speaking role and they appear together more than dinky appears with anyone else. From that simple standpoint…

I’m all for the mother and daughter headcanon, but all you guys made valid points. My conclusion is to take Jim’s advice, go wild and have fun while we don’t have a canonic confirmation (which would make many of us happy but would spoil all the fun on lo g-term).

My personal headcanon is that Dinky is the MLP equivalent of River Song. She was conceived on the TARDIS while her parents, Golden Harvest and Written Script, were traveling with the Doctor, and after the events of Demon’s Run she was sent back in time to Ponyville, where Derpy looked after her until the Doctor could get her real parents back to their own time safely.
 
Then again, I’m a fucking weirdo like that so whatever I guess.

Clearly she’s an ageless midget. In fact, I think I’m just going to go with the theory that Dinky is a Watcher like Uatu. It explains the apparent immortality and why she always shows up in the background at important events.
