How? I think that if the artist wants to tell us that rarity is trans or whatever without doing a story, its fine.
 
No everyone that does these has to give an explanation, they could just do it because they feel like it.
 
And if you get frustrated by someones lack of a sex drive, why would you go out with some who is asexual?

If she ever made stories for her headcanons, I doubt she’d really add that sort of friction or conflict. They’d be complacent and happy. No need to argue about it or dwell on it; it’s what they are, they chose it, all that stuff.

I’m all for headcanons but slapping all these labels on to various ponies for seemingly no reason just comes off as confusing at best and fetishistic at worst. It’s like they have no character or agency outside their sexuality/gender

That may also be a misunderstanding, possibly even most of the time. Saying that, a person may be either dismissing your need to subscribe to a label in the first place, or saying you’re being a fop, or saying you’re mistaken, or insulting your worth as a human being, or saying they don’t believe you, or saying you’re worth less than “normal” people, or they just have a different opinion about how the world works. All very different things.
 
For instance, I think what we and SocDev talked about is our distaste for using labels as part of one’s self-worth and identity - the herd mentatlity, the group politics, all other crap that comes with it - where their real use is… they’re just words.
