I love all bugs, especially millipedes.
Their walk cycle looks like waves propagating and it’s mesmerizing to see!
I just can’t swat any kind of bug or even use a bug spray on them. Whenever I see one in my house, even a cockroach, I just use a dirty cup from the sink to capture them and then I release them on the grass next to home…

I wish there were some Mexican honey wasps in this picture, if only to bring attention to a really unique insect.

I just googled them and, yeah, they’re pretty cool looking. Kinda like a honey bee that ate way too much fast food and got a really fat butt. Sorta cute =3 .

Again though, still allergic, that’s a definite nope from me xD .

Also it’s kind of a myth that wasps serve no purpose to their local ecosystems. Some are more of a nuisance than others, but wasps actually do transfer pollen - contrary to popular belief. It’s just that they don’t transfer as much of it as bees, which can be an issue if they keep killing local bees.

They also help maintain populations of countless different species of harmful insects or mites all over the place though. That’s the main thing they do - some farmers actually deploy certain kinds of wasps in crop fields because they make for great pest control. They love to eat things that eat crops.

Also, there’s a wasp called the Fig Wasp that’s developed a completely symbiotic relationship with fig trees. The plant is so dependent on the wasp for transferring its pollen, that it’s given up the ability to release spores on its own entirely. You can only eat figs today because they’re 100% supported by a certain species of wasp that likes to live in them. When the wasp breeds and dies, its body gets absorbed and eaten by the fig.

Even still, if you encounter either a bee or a wasp, be sure to think twice before killing it, because both will release a pheromone upon death that alerts their boiz to come and attack you. So if you got a yellowjacket nest nearby and you kill a wasp that’s trying to sting you… well you may be in even more trouble shortly.

If I recall correctly, the Japanese and the Chinese wasps are some of the biggest and most dangerous wasps in the world though - especially the Chinese one. Stay the hell away from these.

That’s a very good point. That advice does vary depending on where you live. Most of the wasps I’ve encountered where I live are Paper Wasps too and even though some have flown near me, they’ve never really actually bothered me. (Though I now am hesitant to wear my perfume when it’s warm out since it seems to attract them.)

It kind of reminds me of how there was an episode of a children’s show (Peppa Pig I think) that got banned in Australia because it was teaching children to not be afraid of spiders. It’s a good lesson in some places where a majority of the spider species aren’t a threat to you. But in Australia? Not at all. That’s horrible advice because a lot of spiders there can easily kill an adult human, let alone a child.

That advice is very situational and is primarily based on geography. I used to live in a place where the primary vespids were these guys.

European Paper Wasps. They’re pretty relaxed. I used to ignore their nests, even when they were built under the eaves near the door. Occasionally a wasp might wander down and look at me before flying back up, but that was it. I would hang out on the porch and talk with an active nest above my head because they just aren’t aggressive. Now I live in a place where there are no paper wasps. Instead we have these things.

Yellow Jackets. They buzz like an angry chainsaw at the best of times. They’re extremely aggressive and sting freely. If you see one flying right for you, you do have to get out of its way because it will run into you and it’ll blame you for the mix up. And they like to find their way indoors during the summer.

This is very much in character for her.

That’s such a cute little detail. And also in character too.

I actually thought that he was an OC and possibly Fluttershy’s son. But then again, given how Angel is, one could argue that he kind of is like a son to her (a bratty one but one nonetheless).

As much as I like this picture, I can’t blame some people for being bothered by it. Phobias can be a bitch that way sometimes.

I’m not allergic but I have a phobia of insects and arachnids. It’s a rather mild phobia because I’m perfectly fine with images like this. And it’s probably an odd phobia as well because I actually like and respect the little creepy crawlers. I love looking at them from a distance, reading about them in books, or watching them in nature documentaries. I also really love fictional characters that are bugs/arachnids or have a bug/arachnid theme going for them (like Spider-Man).

But when the creepy crawlers are close to me…ooh…that’s when I panic. And I don’t have the courage to kill most of them (outside of mosquitos because I don’t want anyone to get bitten by one of those and most of them around here tend to be on the smaller side of things). I may yell and run away.

But not with bees and wasps. I was told from a young age to not run away from dogs, bees, and wasps. With the former, it’s because running away from a strange dog can trigger their prey drive (and staring at them could trigger them to fight too). With bees and wasps, I was told that they’re often more scared of humans than we are of them and that running away or making noise might cause them to be scared and sting you.

So even though they scare the living daylights out of me, I try my best not to make noise or run around them. Even if they’re near me or even on my body (which is super terrifying). I’ve thankfully never been stung before.

I’m allergic to bees, so while I mentally label them all as “Not Bros”, I see where you’re coming from. Honey bees and bumblebees, them I leave alone. They don’t actively want to hurt me, they just sometimes fly around me by mistake; just checking things out and being pretty cool (all things considered).

Wasps and hornets though, those guys are ALWAYS “Not Bros”; those guys follow me like I’m an idiot in the big city who flashed around a lot of money in mug-central. Every time I’ve been to the hospital because of an allergic reaction, it isn’t because of a fluffy (and admittedly cute) bumblebee, it’s because an asshole wasp just decided to ruin my day for shits’n’giggles >=( .

Fortunately it wouldn’t happen since I’m sure she tamed them all with The Stare before this scene.

Barring individuals with scorpion venom allergies, not all scorpions are dangerous. That particular breed has a sting roughly on par with a bee’s.

She would most likely die. A scorpion’s sting is lethal if you don’t consult it in a hospital within a certain period of time.
