KALA MARIE
 
Backstory:
 
Kala Marie was cursed at a young age. A squid was magically bonded to her and now she has to constantly carry it inside her body. The squid, which she named Cephy, lives in her stomach and lets his long tentacles hang out of her mouth. Since her nervous system is magically connected to Cephy’s, Kala Marie is able to control the two long tentacles and use them to do whatever she pleases (holding things, writing, etc). Cephy’s other eight tentacles are curled up inside her but occasionally will all pop out of her mouth as a sort of defense mechanism when she feels threatened (but Cephy is unable to completely leave her body). The two long tentacles can also be retracted inside her when it’s convenient and come back out when she needs them again. Cephy eats for her (don’t ask how that works) so you will frequently see her using his tentacles to shovel seaweed into her throat. Kala Marie considers Cephy her friend and often talks to him. She has an empathetic link with him and is able to understand his feelings even though he can’t speak (he barely has more intelligence than a normal squid, so he does not form complex thoughts, even if she believes he can). Kala and Cephy essentially operate as one being.
 
Personality:
 
Kala is very affectionate and always wants to please others. Sadly, most other ponies ostracize her when they find out about Cephy, leaving her with very few friends. She has abandonment issues - she worries a lot that the few friends she does have will eventually get weirder out and leave her. This leads to her being overaffectionate towards her friends and hoping they will show love back so that she feels wanted. Mostly she is just obsessed with trying to belong when she’s so different. She wants other ponies to accept her and Cephy for who they are.
