To be fair though, if they were to reference a thing from Vancouver or Toronto, a lot of people like me wouldn’t get it. But just about EVERYONE can recognize NYC and The Statue of Liberty.

The “Prance” pun may have been used once in a G.M. Berrow book. Can’t recall which one.

I would think, given that MLP is a Canadian-animation, we would have more references to Toronto or Vancouver than New York City.

Darn. I was hoping the statue would leave any sign of a horn as obscured as the possibility of wings, part of the same egalitarian Manehattan spirit that makes it impossible for an alicorn to get a cab.

Fluttershy mentions French haute-couture by name in “Suited for Success.” Personally, I prefer “Prance” for the pun, and because the actual country being a thing raises a number of uncomfortable questions.
