It’s hilarious how many people actually did try to call the LOTR movies some variation of “cliche” or “derivative” without realizing that no, the original story was in fact the High Fantasy trope originator for most of that stuff.
Ooh, good job, you made fun of a series I never bothered to watch. I’m so upset, please do the same to my favourite movie (don’t have one) because if I’m offended then I’m no different than you whose being overly sensitive. Never used 4chan, I like MLP, I don’t watch it ironically, and I actually liked the episode I made fun of. What pissed you off so much?

“Applejack’s ‘Day’ Off” resulted in some snarky, thinly-veiled disapproval, actually. There have been a few previous episodes (I think “Princess Spike”, can’t remember the others) that got similar treatment.

I admit that it’s hilarious how personally offended critics seem to be by the notion that the show itself is suggesting not listening to the critical minority lest you find yourself doing things most people don’t want in the name of conformity.

I’ll agree with you on that, it’s just that people are praising episodes and then claim which are amazing or down-right shitty when all together, MLP writing isn’t all that good.
Still in the middle of season 5, and enjoying it so far.
Story wise MLP is pretty mediocre, but the writing excels in the small details. (I.E dialog, characterizations, humor etc.) This is something that was true since season one and still is.
I’d say that comparing MLP episodes to MLP episodes season 5 had a couple of episode that stood above the rest, mostly because they were willing tackle themes that the writers usually avoided up until this point.
