I like her costume, its easily the best of the group.

I think its hilarious how everyone else is in deep analysis over this movie and Im over here excited about the fact that Applejacks costume in this picture isnt shitty. Its pretty cool and Im happy about this fact.

I agree. People who whine about insignificant little details like that are almost as insufferable as Starlight fans who raise a storm whenever this one side character isn’t in the spotlight in someone elses focus episode or even a background decorator.

First people cry because she’s not in the middle of a poster, and now you’re upset because she doesn’t have wings? Agreed about the group effort; that’s what I’m HAPPIEST about in this movie, based on the book.
 
Twilight isn’t a super leader character, she needs to basically be lead around by the hand by sunset the entire movie.  
At the same time, Sunset has more or less no power on her own as she has the least combat worthy ability (even Fluttershy’s more useful in a fight), and, while she acts as the team’s guiding force, is totally reliant on them for everything else.  
As a third thing, the other 5 are the ones doing the MOST action in the book; heck, while sunset and twilight are away dash even seems to step up to the plate a little in rallying the others about how it was time to save the day, meaning the others seem to be developing more independence as a group.
 
 
Honestly, this seems like a massive improvement from FG and them being power batteries.

I’ll disagree with you, AJ’s is the best one IMO. The gloves really work well for a bruiser/super strength character, as they help serve as a visual cue of her having super strength due to their extra size without being unfeminine due to being just cloth.

I may be misreading the image, but it doesn’t suggest a leadership role for Twilight to me. She looks more like someone needing support.
 
I don’t see a series looking to replace Sunset. I see a series looking to replace the team’s princess with a peer. The other girls all deferred to Princess Twilight in Rainbow Rocks. Friendship Games may not have given them the most focus, but each of them took the lead at some point. Rarity and Dash weren’t the only ones to offer Twilight guidance, which might be fitting for the first and last drained. Technically, Rarity did lead Twilight to the others, but I don’t think the costume display shows Twilight anything.
 
Maybe Hasbro does emphasize the EG counterpart to FIM’s central character, but I don’t see the series doing the same. Sci-Twi was both the dragon and the “princess” to be saved in “Friendship Games”. Sunset was that movie’s champion and the team’s anchor in the previous movie. Even if Twilight becomes the team’s powerhouse, I suspect Sunset is going to remain as this group’s leader. I think she’s become too connected to the group to slip into the mentor role.

Exactly. People should start looking at this as more of a group effort. It seems that Sunset getting her own transformation from the last movie wasn’t enough for the fans.

I don’t know how, or even if they’re supposed to be able to fly with those tiny ones above. They look more like they’re just a part of the costume, actually.
 
And it looks more like they’re making Twilight the focus / leader just like she is on FiM. It’s not so much that Sunset doesn’t have the crystal wings but the fact Twilight suddenly does.

The funny thing is, in the toy line Fluttershy is the one who goes without wings.

Seriously, she’s not put on a pedestal and you freak out? You don’t see the other fans going crazy just because its not revolving around dash or revolving around Rarity.  
they’re moving more towards a group centric thing here, get over it; its nice that everyone did everything instead of having a power batteries thing for sunset again. this is a big improvement.
 
 
On that note: really like AJ’s look, but the wings for RD, twi and Fluttershy are really underwhelming; what about those vectors we got of crystal wings where they looked really sweet?  
Eh, either way. Not bad. Could use some tweaking in design for sunset and pinkie, but not bad.

The only thing I’m getting from this is that like any good sixth ranger Sunset’s costume has the most bling and is all in all the best one of the lot.

Sigh, it’s just sad seeing Sunset being pushed to the sideline because of Sci-Twi. In three movies Sunset became a better character than the Mane Six in Six Seasons! And yet, those damn suits prefer purple smart.
 
I don’t hate neither version of Twi nor the Mane 5, yet none of them changes over the Seasons. Heck Twi was the only one that got any permanent development before Season 5 and every episode in that season and after that season, aside premiers and finales, she has less screen time than any other character and seems less likeble.
 
I know it’s a kid’s show, but a kid’s show can be creative, with bits of permanent character growth, enjoyble and nice for erveryone. EQG had all that, of course with it’s flaws, errors, sins and plot holes, and even maneged to give us a very interesting and charasmatic character such as Sunset…
 
And yet in Friendship Games many scenes that could give us more aspects of Sunset’s personality ended up being unused in exchange of Sci-Twi joining the group. Is it bad? No. But that gave me the dreadful feeling that Hasbro Studios will possibily push Sunset to the sidelines, while Sci-Twi becomes the protagonist because of the main series! Guess what the LoE trailers and spoilers are confirming to me? They even gave Sci-Twi that pointless crush on random Brand 2.0!
 
I’m sorry. It’s just… It’s just… It’s just sad! There’s close none evidence nor hints that Sunset will ever return to Equestria nor appear/be mentioned in the main series, because that’s pretty much what happens to nearly ervery characters that made their first appearence in spin-offs! And now there’s the risk that Sunny will lose her role as protagonist because Twi’s counterpart has to be in the spotlight because in Equestria (main series) she is the major protagonist as well!
 
Sigh… I hate being like that. But so far, aside Sunny looking beautiful as always, there’s no good news… Can someone give a ray of hope?

Maybe Sci-Twi would be a pegasus in Equestria.
 
It makes no real sense, but I would still prefer it over her being an alicorn without a good reason.
