True, but it wasn’t too bad. We already know Sunset’s got massive alicorn power, but I’d prefer Sunset form her wings permanently and on her own in a movie more connected to Celestia. It wouldn’t be thematic otherwise.
 
Besides, the way I see it, Human Twilight earned it in ways that both Pony Twilight failed and even Luna to a degree failed. The spell that made Twilight an alicorn took the elements from the other 5 to complete her form without consent. ‘Power given is very different and unique then power taken’ as they say. Sunset used her powers to connect her thoughts and the others to Twilight to give her strength to conquer her inner darkness and make her an alicorn. While it may be premature alicornhood, Human Twilight’s a lot more of a realist, self sufficient and down to earth compared to Pony Twilight, and its very fitting that Human Twilight is not inferior to Pony Twi.
 
And in regards to Luna, Pony Twilight never has anything remotely to relate to Human Twilight about having a darkness inside her that’s beneath the surface. Luna does. Luna ‘barely’ coped after her release from Nightmare Moon by putting all her negative thoughts into a dream creature to torture herself for a year or more until that eventually escaped and almost wrecked the waking world. Twilight with her friends help conquered her inner darkness, which followed the theme from the stars in EG3 that Twilight’s real path was similar to Luna’s but with friends, the same way Sunset has the potential to surpass Celestia in wisdom and friendship.

That would take imagination, nerve and creativity. All things both Media DHX and Hasbro seem to be running out of lately.

I’m still a little annoyed that they didn’t give Sunset her Daydream wings, but Twilight got a pair without earning them.

Twilight can probably form her own group. Possibly the shadow 5. She has the Magic of friendship inside her and enough knowledge to spread the friendship around. With enough time and effort she can have the shadow 5 as allies to her and Sunset can have the other five as hers. That way, they can be both leaders for their own groups and still save the world together as a team. People way wonder where the Shadow 5 would receive their powers from, well… with magic leaking out it is possible for them to have it at their disposal. That is if something like this happens.

Yeah, but she’ll never be as important as Twilight, no matter what. If anything, she’ll be the Rei to Twilight’s Usagi, seeing as how in Sailor Moon (at least the old anime series) she was probably the most focused girl next to Usagi, yet when it came down to it she was support-tier along with all the other girls and Tuxedo Mask.
 
90’s anime-Usagi does point out that all the other girls are important, but the actual episodes say otherwise, especially in later seasons where the other girls literally can’t do much but wait for Sailor Moon to finish whatever they’re fighting off.
 
So the way I see it, Twilight is the leader / Princess now and Sunset is her #1. Which isn’t bad, but I guess we’ll see what happens in the next movie.

Sunset can still share the spotlight with Twilight and be a main character, too.

And thus this Twilight is both the newest alicorn and also Sailor Moon, while Sunset has been relegated to support-tier.
 
Couldn’t say I didn’t see it coming with how the ending of Friendship Games was altered to have Twilight move to Canterlot High, but it’s still pretty annoying.

They have finally abandoned all pretense and turned EQG into a full-on Magical Girl series.
 
And I’m okay with this.
