Well, either the picture (and monsters) are metaphoric, she lost all her breath on impact with the water and became less buoyant, or the impact was so strong than she still has some leftover momentum to drag her down.
Despite all my love to Dash, I think in this case I would still chose the one that goes deep-deep down, preferably in pieces! :D
