She’s no more relevant to the elements of harmony then Gloriosa. She isn’t a chosen hero, she just has unnaturally strong unicorn magic and that’s it. The best she can hope for is to be her generation’s Star Swirled the Bearded. ||Which isn’t going to be Pony Twi because Twi focuses way more on her princess studies then new spell creation and, let’s face it, she will never disobey Celestia’s expectations in a million years. Although, the beginning of Stranger then Fanfiction showed Twilight’s still a nerd, magic and book lover who feels more confined by the princess role then anything else. ||
 
Very little chance of alicornship without element connection either. When it comes down to the brass tacks and what we know, beyond the freak accident Princess McFlurry, someone usually becomes an alicorn naturally by a chosen hero (or heir) ascending out of necessity from love or friendship. Cadence’s own ascension has been stuck in the realm of semi-canon for years and has been discussed at great length between the writers of DHX and IDW, but has never been put into any canon material, just semi canon stuff. Basically, she is a pegasi orphan who in her youth resisted the magic of a unicorn witch using forbidden love-twisting magic, but resisted it due to her strong ideals about love. That was the trigger for her alicornship. The reason she became one is she the last blood descendant of the last ruler of the crystal empire, Princess Amore, before Sombra took over For Twilight, the Element of Magic is technically not a morality and more of a responsibility, but instead of waiting for the opportunity for the other 5 to share their element with her out of necessity, Celestia sent her a book that if completed, would force the other 5 to share their elements with Twi with no consent. Luna even warned Celestia not to do it. Sunset, Celestia’s first and redeemed apprentice, used her powers to help Human Twi ascend naturally, with the Mane 6 willingly giving her the power to defeat Midnight Sparkle inside herself..
 
Starlight is pretty screwed in that department because on her best days she’s less dispassionate then Pony Twi. She’s a moderately neutral problem solver type and lost most of her passions when she reformed. All her magic is unicorn based and nothing else, even Spike has shown more potential for hidden inner strength. Again, Starswirled’s successor is the best she can hope for.
 
I’d say Trixie has a higher potential for alicornship just out of the sheer karma difference between Twilight’s life and her’s. I wouldn’t put it past Discord to see if he could make Trixie turn into an alicorn of chaotic friendship naturally just to spite Twilight and Celestia

With the elements its…..tricky. Gloriosa was merely having her personality slightly altered to delusioned-addict-stage by using 5 elements that she wasn’t a chosen master over. But, as far as I can tell, when she grabbed Magic along with Empathy(becoming Gaia Everfree), just like when Sunset wore the crown of Magic and other elements(Sunset Satan) or when the other elements awakened Sci Twi’s own power violently(Midnight Sparkle)…..basically those two elements used badly have the same risk Luna and (theoretically) Celestia’s magic has naturally. Y’know, absolute power corrupts absolutely, like Luna going darkside and suddenly transforming into Nightmare Moon.
 
This is just speculation and brain storming, but since Pony Twi’s never been exposed to all 7 elements, she doesn’t struggle with an inner demon or as much power as Sci Twi. Since Sci Twi awakened as the element of magic, the dark side of her personality latched on to the full corruptive nature she experianced. For sci-twi, it was either become an alicorn by defeating her darkness with her friend’s friendship and magical support, or lose her sanity.
 
Sunset (I’m guessing) has a much stronger will and was able to push her darkside down on her own, so she doesn’t HAVE to be alicorn permanently, but with the right circumstances, she exceeds past alicorn and becomes a Seraph of sorts with the other’s power given willingly. And by that logic, Sunset already has more alicorn potential then either Twilights, she just hasn’t accepted it permanently yet because she hasn’t needed to.

Its a comparison but not a very apt one. Its true they both can be used to empower powerful kings, wizards or chosen heroes based on the strength of their power and emotions.
 
But the chaos emeralds can be used safety by chosen heroes. While its true even their power can turn dark if they themselves become angry, its not the norm for those chosen who can wield it.
 
The One Ring on the other hand, like the alicorn amulet, is a corrupter. It ONLY amplifies negative emotions, not all emotions. Unlike the chaos emeralds, it will change and destroy your personality, its just a matter of how long it takes. Even if you can use its power briefly for the right reasons, it will not last long at all.
