Why do people always act like the cutie mark swap and the changeling thing were done out of malice? The former was done out of panic and a gut reaction, AFTER she had tried to get them to talk things out, and the latter was done out of not thinking things through, which is a pretty frequent flaw of hers (see: the rock thing).
 
And she wasn’t INTENTIONALLY trying to destroy time. When she realized she was she went into denial before Twilight talked her down.
 
As for ELTSD: it’s called a relapse. And she hasn’t done anything like that since, so the lesson seems to have stuck this time.

By what definition of red? It was accidental yes but Starlight did (as she herself put it) nearly destroy the universe while intentionally trying to alter history out of spite, and she purposefully created a brainwashing cult. Twilight’s never done anything close to that (trying to steal something out of desperation to save the world and snapping at her friends in anger does not compare).
 
To be clear, I love Starlight, but we just plain don’t know enough about “princess-worthy deeds” to judge if she ever even could qualify for becoming an alicorn. Its not like she needs it either given she’s a magical prodigy regardless.
