actually it is not a textured plane but is a HDR mapped Sphere in the “world shader” there is one light source which is the sun but there cant be any reflected light as there is no reflective surfaces (grass doesnt count as a reflective surface) also ambient occlusion is a simpler way to map soft shading when in fact ray traced light is much more accurate at soft shading and adding ambient occlusion will buddy up the quality even more .. also the fur is just lines which have been beveled in a 3d space and smoothed so it looks like real hair … there is no alpha texture or anything… (look up how to make hair in cycles render)

I know blender and that’s why I called it simple, and You even said it Yourself: “ONE light source”
That’s just projected light, what about reflected light? All the parameters of that one sun and ambient occlusion etc are nailed and I even said that in the first comment, but, I can just see that You have created a scene with just the model and a textured plane behind, eventually putting a plane below with that fur effect again to make it look like grass. It’s visible. Instead I suggest getting not only a horizontal photo but also a vertical one, or even a 360 photo, so that You can make the whole 3d space around the model using a textured shadeless UVsphere. I’m sure it would look much different (and better!), and would get rid of that weird feeling here. I’m not that much into new blender and that’s why I don’t know how it’s called, but what I mean by that “Fur effect” is whatever You do to a flat model to make it generate 3d fur.

its messy as i described but it is not “simple shading” it is ray traced light samples coming from one light source and that would be the “sun” there is no other light source so therefore there is no “special effects” … if you think im wrong .. go out side on a sunny warm day and have someone take a picture of you … then look and see it looks like only one light source is hitting you .. sorry if i seem a little snappy .. i am working on lots of things at the moment and am really exhausted as testing things and having to self teach in blender is very stressful as not all answers are “right there”

well, You just explained why it’s messy Yourself.
The shading is really simple as well, the only thing that makes this interesting is the fur and hair effect.
and You shouldn’t expect others to check Your other stuff to judge, especially since You never tagged Yourself as the artist, and the rest is NSFW. In other words:

@nothungone
how is it messy

the original was rendered in 1080p and any “messy” is because it was compressed to 360 x 200 pixels
what you are seeing is the “hairs” popping in and out because of the ultra low pixel count .. i personally wish i knew of some higher resolution gif generating websites that were stable but this is what i could find to generate it to a gif
