Though this makes me wonder yet again what REALLY led to the whole NMM debacle and how Celestia was BEFORE, hmmm?
I won’t say a bad word against canon Celestia because she still is mostly used by the writers as a plot device. But I absolutely abhor most of the fanon interpretations of her. That said, I really really want to see what led her to be who she is. Not just in the show, but even before Discord’s first defeat…

True. And everyone lambasting her certainly does NOT help. “Ooh, Celestia’s useless! We want an episode starring her! She did NOTHING at the Grand Galloping Gala! Where was SHE in most of Season 6?!” You know, there’s “upset”, and then there’s “annoying”. XD
And on top of all that, quite possible, there is a thousand years spent searching for a student who could once again use the elements of harmony. Someone talented and strong in the use of magic, but without the all too often associated desire for power or glory. How many times did she see what happened to Sunset happen to other promising candidates? How many times did one she had hope in burn out, or fail to be the kind of pony who would wield such power properly?
And all the while having to keep up her duties as ruler, teacher, and protector. Talk about a difficult life.
