Except that most other characters would've too blinded by awe to try to resolve the conflict, because, you know, _princesses_. The former revolutionary was perfect there. And even those characters who could've seen past the crowns would've had to force their way through Celestia's facade of perfection and Luna's general reluctance to seek any kind of help. Starlight sliced through the Gordian knot, and for once doing so actually kind of worked.
Plus, after Twilight's last panic attack, the story did shift focus to the sisters. Starlight acted as little more than a sounding board while they tried to adapt themselves to each other's roles.
But beyond that, I have a question for you: What would you have wanted to see? How could this have been improved? It's all well and good to list what you didn't like about the episode, but do you have a concrete vision of the Celestia episode you were hoping for?
