For me, this also reminds me of a scene in Hotel Transylvania 2 where Dracula and his friends inflated that green balloon monster so big and let it deflate so they could fly quickly back into the hotel before his family arrives.

Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree was released earlier, though. It was released in 1966, much earlier than MLP:FiM.
 
Hotel Transylvania 2 is quite recent, and recycles the classic trope.
