… this… is a thing people try?
I mean, this just screams terrible, terrifying idea from every direction.
(Personally, I’d have a hell of a time getting most any lightbulb past my teeth anyways - going by RCrash’s reference of 2.5” bulb, I can barely spread my teeth 2” with my fingernails and that was less than a second away from causing a muscular cramp.)

No, RCrash is spot on… most of the people I’ve seen do it used the old 65w incandescent bulbs (and while endlessly amusing to watch) is frequently not a pretty sight and usually ends in a cut to ribbons tongue.

Edit: Getting it past your teeth is the easy part: because of how the bulb is shaped it’ll push your jaw open just past where your muscles can’t open the jaw on their own. Where it gets caught coming out is the weakest part of the bulb thus the shattering.

Right About Everything
I am informed by an A&E doctor I work with that he’s never seen this, and doesn’t think it’s true. He has however seen children who have tried to eat a lightbulb, and it wasn’t pretty.

So really, even dumber than pictured. That lightbulb will likely break long before you get it in there.

Just a warning, DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS.
Once the bulb is in your mouth, it is impossible to get it out without the bulb breaking, you can DIE from this. PLEASE, DO NOT EVER RECREATE THIS.
Most bulbs are 2.5 inches around, and you would need a mouth with 3 inches of space, but even if you can fit a bulb in your mouth, please do not do so. The sensation of something hard behind your teeth prompts a (completely uncontrollable) reflex of panic, causing your mouth to lock up, and many people who have successfully put a bulb in their mouth have either been severely injured, or ended up losing a lung. Or both. I personally knew one person who died from such an action.

Please, never recreate this image, as cute as it is. <3
