I dunno, something about the artist, and their expressions kinda bugs me, hate to be negative.
muad having a cute pet bat would be great.
@Background Pony #8E08
It’s not quite like that - I’ve read this comic, so I know the context of each expression here.
Basically, Rarity and Maud go on an adventure to explore some caves for Maud’s career, and whenever they come across something embarrassing, shocking, scary, sad etc. Rarity freaks out and Maud keeps her deadpan expression, then writes something in her diary.
Rarity gets frustrated with Maud about how she never seems to show emotion during the adventure. Eventually Rarity finds Maud’s diary, reads through all the things Maud went through, and realises that she WAS scared, sad, shocked etc. but just didn’t show it.
These pictures are Maud’s true “emotions” as listed in the diary, rather than what actually happened in the adventure. It’s a really sad scene; Rarity cries her eyes out when she realises her mistake.
I think the artist (Hickey) kinda went overboard personally. She didn’t really capture Maude’s deadpan personality very well, and while I like occasional silly facial expressions, she tends to make characters look too outlandish usually. (Especially Rarity.)
So she must have been frightend beyond belive.
Same IDW comic and issue, if I remember.
