One of the more recent leaks mentioned something about Earth Pony magic.

They’re gutting the mythos of the show. Cutie marks are being downplayed to the extreme to the point where they don’t even matter, magic itself is being mostly removed (they’re playing with the idea of it being limited and defining specific characters rather than being common) and there’s not even a mention of Celestia, Luna, or Alicorns in general. If Twilight shows up as an Earth pony, an Earth pony is likely what she’ll stay.

I bet real money that she have to earn horn and wings this time..
