I’m talking, “Already went through puberty and not physically growing up anymore” kind of adult here.  
 
We’ve seen what teen ponies look like in the show and they don’t look like what the Mane 6 look like now.

I thought they were juniors as of Friendship Games and then Legend of Everfree and the three “Magic” specials take place over the summer break. Anything after that I figured they’d be seniors.

It was never blatantly stated whether or not the time progresses in the same speed in both worlds.
 
Quit nitpicking, we know you don’t like EG. Stop being biased, FiM has the same issues too.
 
Also, EG only had one installment per year prior to 2017. Like Ishi said, some of those movies take place in the same year.

When have we ever been told any of their ages? One can be an adult and still retain younger age. The concept of adulthood is a fluid concept throught history. In some societies being an adult could happen in your mid teen years.

You could find similar things in the show, I believe one of the characters even had the mona lisa for a cutie mark. In fact in the show there’s been the direct usage of the word French, we know of the existance of France and we know the planet Equestria is in is called Earth.
 
The EqG world, while having a sort of generic modern setting, never really gives the impression that its suppose to represent this world.

If you look at the first movie you see Sunset Shimmer won the fall formal three straight times which proved they are seniors Ishi didn’t work on the first movie though

Seriously, they’re going to remain in high school for all eternity, because EG simply cannot function if they’re not. So yeah, don’t expect this to ever make any sense, given that years have clearly passed in Equestria since EG became a thing, and yet the humane seven haven’t so much as moved up a grade.

Isn’t that already the case? The pony versions of the Mane 6 are adults. It gets rather weirder if you consider the Cutie Mark Crusaders though.

I’m going to reiterate the conclusion and most logical way of looking at the EqG world as a whole: it’s a crapsack world that has little relation or baring on Equestria and trying to make sense between the two is a waste of time.
 
More than likely the ages of the girls are completely inconsistent with their pony selves and it’s best not to think too hard about it. For heavens sake, the CMC attend classes along with their sisters, I’m sure there could be some places that have Middle and High School together in the same building, but that’s already a titanic stretch, especially when you consider that Apple Bloom doesn’t appear to have even been born by the time Applejack is a “teenager” in the main series and by all rights should still be in early elementary school.
 
The answer to how old the EqG cast is, they’re in High School… that’s about as specific as we’re ever going to get.

Honestly, I would just ignore this as it’s a stupid thing to say unless they were going to explain the differences at some point. Simply because it could mean literally anything at that point.

He should just come out and say “they’re not legal. Stop being creepy.”

“It’s a different world so maybe this term means something different for them” loses validity when it’s a world identical to our own in just about every other respect. Especially when it’s a term used by an institution shared between the worlds. Mind you that “finals” just meant end of the year tests in my high school and everyone had them. The reasoning, though, is a little off.

I’m still under the mindset that the “human” versions are much younger than their pony selves.
