You know I had a headcanon about this. Since drones mate with the queen and Thorax is the queen. Pharynx turns female and allows his brother to impregnate him. Or of course we could also go down the Two and a Half Men route even though it’s a daughter. Thorax seems a lot like Alan anyway. LMFAO!

Insect colonies, like ants or bees, are actually single super organisms made up of “individuals” (they all have the same DNA). Just as we have arms, genitals, viscera; insects have arms (soldiers/drones), genitals (the queen), and viscera (workers/nurses).
 
At least they do, from a certain point of view.
