@Badheart I’m overcome with the need to note that I don’t have an issue with this piece and haven’t hidden any related tags.
I did test hiding gallbar (as I stated), and it did hide the image, and replaced it with Tia’s questioning face looking at the left edge of my computer screen. The notion that “just hide the image/tags” doesn’t entirely work with featured ones, and asking people to do that isn’t the end-all be-all in this scenario… and it gives the bigots who lurk here an excuse to take their muzzle off.
I was trying to get that point across; I should have explicitly said it. D:
@Derpy Whooves
I’d like to believe most people do just that; filtering the tags to their liking, removing themes they don’t like from the feed, and shutting up if they would otherwise have something ill to say. But hiding this image doesn’t work. Hiding a tag (I tried ‘gallbar’) replaces the image with the customary Celestia image, and Sunbutt’s questioning look stays up in the featured box.
Hazarding a guess here (one that may have already been made, but there’s no flipping way I’m sifting through 300+ comments for it): the asshats are more vocal because it’s an image they can’t hide, and are reminded of it each time they see the hidden Celestia image under the featured banner on the homepage.
So they burn their self-discipline and do what they do best: show their true colors behind the protective cover that is the Anonymous button.
@Chuy Ryu
If people do not like the theme of an image, we ask that they have the self-discipline to ignore it, or filter/hide it if they can’t see it without being triggered.
Voting on the image really should be entirely separate from that.
@Crimson Prose
Eh people can still dislike a concept without it being for the wrong reasons, all in all the right to cast a vote should still be respected.
Either ways we’re looking at it being only 1/10th of the total so it’s nothing like that excessive, therefore lets please try avoid leaving the climate tense at the comment section, focus on the piece and not the politics.
@Love Letter
Personally, as an artist, I like seeing downvotes on my stuff as opposed to just upvotes and faves. To me, it means more people saw it, they didn’t like it, but they saw it!
@TheDreaded
I still don’t understand why there’s a downvote button if there are filters.
The Derpi admins tried doing away with the downvote button a while back. People flipped, so they kept it. Personally, I’m with you, it serves no purpose now that we have the Hide button, but some folks just want to hate on a pic.
Well, Gallus kidnapped Sandbar* through deception by destroying the Christmas, err, Hearth’s Warming tree. Since no one confessed, Sandbar would have to stay ALL BREAK to help clean and for punishment. Eventually, Gallus admits to Sandbar that he’s never had friends or family before he started school, and now he’s desperate that Sandbar stay. The teachers realize this and punish Gallus, letting the other students go, but all the….Sandbar volunteers to stay allllllll winter break with lonely little Gallus. :3
(Note: all instances of “Sandbar” include the rest of the student six, but that’s a minor detail.)
