Why don’t you wait for an episode to actually air before you complain about it?

Just look at “Marks for Effort” for example…

What the hell…making a character act completely out-of-character to write an episode.  
Reintroducing old characters and made new characters who are “studying friendship” seems better/superior….  
Unpopular opinion: REALLY glad the show is ending next season.

I never understood the whole “Sunset VS Glimmer” drama frankly. I don’t hate either character, or anything, I feel both have both good/bad things about them.
 
Yeah, Glimmer’s remorse was a bit more subtle, and spread out over a season or two. She had to deal with things like her control issues, her fear of going back to her old town, ect. Shimmer’s was all basically in one movie, which is probably why many don’t notice, or feel Glimmer isn’t worthy of forgiveness, and “got away” with more then Sunset.
 
Also, seeing how Sunset had to help rebuilding the damaged wall, and had to face ire from her fellow students, and such, (ironic, people demonize the other students for that, forgetting how mean “old Sunset” was) some feel she was punished more then Glimmer was.  
Glimmer did have to deal with some rejection too, (like from Big Mac, & Mrs. Cake) as she didn’t socialize well, and had fear of failure, and a few minor things, but most probably feel she got away with more, (especially, sense her crime of messing up time almost reduced Equestria to a wasteland, but granted that wasn’t her intention) and want her to “suffer” the way Shimmer, Diamond Tiara, Discord, and such did in order to fully deserve “forgiveness.”
 
She did basically turn herself in to Twilight to be punished after the whole timeline mess was fixed, so she actually was willing to face the music for her actions showing she sincerely sorry. Think about it, turning her fate over to the Princess, means she felt so bad she was willing to go to jail, or face an even worse fate over all the bad she did.

You are dead on about Sunset, but you forgot that she also destroyed one of the school’s walls and defeating her left a giant crater in the lawn, both of which had to be fixed. Nothing of that is ever mentioned either.
 
I like Sunset, but Shimmerfags seem to be under the mistaken impression that all the people who hate EG and pretend she doesn’t exist wouldn’t be furious if Sunset replaced Starlight.
 
Spending an hour and a half looking like she’s being beaten every time someone reminds her she was an asshole was apparently enough to convince the EG fandom she was worthy. Starlight has gotten far more time dedicated to making her feel bad about her past, yet this is never brought up either because episodes are only 22 minutes long at a crack.

Starlight is about as much of a main character as Spike, Celestia, or Sunset Shimmer is at this point. Probably even less then they are. Alot of her frequent appearances have been pretty brief, with only an occasional episode giving her the spotlight, or a small role in the plot.
 
Lately, the show has been using less, and less of her, (heck, she didn’t even do anything in the movie, did she?) so it feels like they’re trying to phase her into a more supporting-character role, to appease her critics/haters a bit, without upsetting her fans.

Not hating, but it’s funny that it’s ok for Sunset Shimmer to practically become a main character, but not for Glimmer. I guess people give Sunset a free pass, because she hasn’t “infested” the main show, and she spent a whole movie acting cute & sad making fans forgive her crimes easier. (Arguably, almost unintentionally destroying the timeline/world is worse then acting like a snot, breaking up friendships, and enslaving everyone in a zombie army.)  
I still see people begging for her to be put in the Pony show, replace Glimmer, or even Twilight Sparkle, and go off on how much better a character she is, and such, though honestly I feel Sunset’s no better then Glimmer.
 
They call Glimmer a “Mary-Su,” but ironically want to turn all of their favorite character/s (not just Sunset) into one unintentionally. I even see fans wanting to get rid of all of Spike’s flaws, humorous aspects, and such too.
 
Honestly, if Shimmer was put in the main Pony show instead, I bet she would be the one getting all the hate, drama, and debate that Glimmer gets. Especially, from Season 1/2/Faust-era-purists. Heck, as I pointed out, before “Rainbow Rocks” came out, half the fanbase hated Sunset as much as they did Glimmer. (But even nowadays the Glimmer drama has died down a li’l too.)
 
How long ’till somebody calls me a “Glimmer-fag/Sunset-hater” despite the fact, I said above I see them as “not too different,” and I have criticized Glimmer too, and in fact I used to be a Glimmer-hater, as well.

Of course, this is true but ONLY true for Glimmerfags (NOT regular Starlight fans, mind you) as they keep referring to her as a main character.  
When the show, marketing and voice actors still stating Mane Six.  
There’re only six elements of harmony in the show meanwhile in EG, humane 7 have respective geodes and its opening theme has Sunset have in the middle as the lead.

I couldn’t agree more. And I don’t think I’ll ever understand it. I enjoy the ride rather than complain about the scenery. If you let things you don’t like dominate your opinion, you eventually become a very angry person. And honestly? I’ve got way bigger fish to fry in my life than worrying about the little things that annoy me about what is otherwise my favorite show.

As I said I often see fans whom love other characters for the same reasons they hate other characters, (not just Starlight) oddly. Like they love one character for being flawed, and then hate another with similar flaws. Or those that love a bit/BG character that’s popular, and hate another just because they’re “overrated.”

I was making a point of showing what happens when you put someone else under the microscope. I don’t hate Spike, but he’s easy to be critical of if you don’t blindly accept his character. And you can do it to anyone with more or less the same result.
 
I don’t consider anyone to be truly badly written, but there are some episodes where the idiot ball gets passed around like a coffee pot on a Monday morning. And what gets complained about is that everyone gets handed the idiot ball to make Starlight look good. What is also complained about is that when she handles the idiot ball herself it’s always a catastrophe.
 
But then the same thing happens to everyone in different episodes. And it’s easy enough to justify it as having a bad day since real people handle the idiot ball all the time for the same reason. Is it bad writing, or is it justified? Depends on the example and the person being asked. 28 Pranks Later was a great episode…except for the fact that it ignored a whole heap of character development and established beliefs just to make Rainbow Dash an asshole.

If you recolored any pony, gave them different hair/tails/eyes/cutie-marks that could be said of almost every character. Only a few like some obscure characters, or Mrs. Cake have different builds, but a few other characters do use her “chubby pony” model too. (Like Rarity’s/Sweetie’s Mother.)

but of course it would horribly contrived as one of the bp i saw saying it said you needed to stick a wig on her

You have some points, but no need to bash Spike so much. (Even if it’s just for making a point.) He has gotten some subtle development, and acts a bit more mature then he used too.  
I suppose in some ways every character isn’t always perfectly written, (take “Scare Master” undoing all of Fluttershy’s character development, and making her even more cowardly then she was in the first season. Or say half of every character being a jerk in “Pony Point of View,” and such) so you have a point that people only seem to “call out” easy targets like Starlight.
 
But overall as you said, some just take the show too seriously. It’s nice the fanbase is passionate about it, but some fans (especially ex-fans) take it too far, or obsess too much on minor things, while being biased in favor of other things.

This fandom is so fickle and stupid it’s painful to watch sometimes. We will complain about ANYTHING, and there are still those who think if they bitch loud enough Twilight will lose her wings. In fact, I think this is where a lot of the “Starlight is the new main character” BS comes from. With her around, unicorn Twilight isn’t necessary.
 
She’s been a princess longer than she was a unicorn. And the show has now had Starlight in it for as long as she wasn’t in it. There are people who have been moaning that the show is ruined since 2012, ffs, and the last time I checked there’s still plenty of people enjoying it.
 
Some of us need to grow up and acknowledge that bitching about a cartoon for years makes you look petty and obsessed. I don’t like everything that’s happened over the years, either, but I don’t go whining forever about how lame I thought most of season 4 was or how I think Spike has always been a terrible tagalong with no room for character development.
 
I mean really. People bitch that Starlight replaced Spike in Fame and Misfortune. The role was better suited to a character that would be listened to, and we already know nobody listens to Spike but his friends. Nobody wants to accept that Starlight was just a better fit because they believe it could have been character development for Spike. In 8 seasons he’s gotten almost no character development, what possible effect could that episode have had on him? He causes all of his own problems and he frequently acts like a self-absorbed asshole. He’s never called out for it by the fandom. And we still don’t know how his egg came to be in Celestia’s possession. If we are so critical of how “badly written” Starlight is, why do we not hold all characters to the same standard?

Not all of it was, (Lucus did cool things too, but maybe the series is better off with Disney for now) but not saying Faust is that case as she did alot of good for the series too. Just saying nobody is perfect.

Yeah, fans often forget she didn’t want fans “shitting” on the rest of the show staff, and such.
 
Ironically, some of the things they hate about the show are actually her doing. Like those that demonize the show for being “toy-etic,” and claim “Faust would never sell out!” don’t seem to notice she kinda designed (in her original sketches) things, like the main characters’ homes to be made into playsets, and her “Galaxy Girls” were made with toys in mind.  
Also, let’s face it, MLP has always been a cash-cow franchise, but frankly so are alot of other beloved shows, movies, comics, anime, games, ect. So it’s not always a bad thing.
 
Besides, as already pointed out before, they’ve had fewer toy tie-ins in the show lately. (And even ones like “Rainbow Power” were more subtle.) Where’s the Magical Friendship school toys, and merch’ already?

it was also basically pulling the lauren faust said card even though that’s not what she originally wanted
