Or they get ridiculously angry over any time their prefered character gets humorously hurt, or gets upset, or flips out, or something…
Yeah, hate to say this as a “Spike fan” myself, but the worst offenders are usually the Spike fans, (or used to be) whom get angry if he so much as stubs his toe. If he ever does anything humorous, or clumsy, people freak out, accuse the staff of hating/abusing him, and such. One guy even tried to accuse the show of being “sexist” to males for it’s portrayal of Spike. Another guy drew hate-fanart of Spike abusing or murdering pony caricatures of the DHX staff… It used to be so bad, fans used to jokingly call them “Spike Justice Warriors.”
Yet, they ignore all the cartoony slapstick that happens to other characters. (Twilight having an anvil & piano dropped on her, Rainbow Dash crashing into a tree, with her eyeballs going through, Fluttershy running into a door, Rarity freaking out, Applejack missing a teeter-totter, Discord getting “Final-Smash’d” by Starlight, the CMC trying to do anything, ect.)
I remember Fluttershy fans used to get crap alot for being overly protective of her too, and always get stereotyped as such, but honestly the only time I ever saw them be that way was when they got angry over Gilda being nasty to her, or when Pinkie upset her in “Fili Vanili.”
@northern haste
That’s what it’s like half the time of arguing with people online.
Even when she just appears briefly in a “supporting” role, (which usually works better for Starlight) somehow people mistake that as a “main character role.” Looking back at episodes like “Shadow Play” she hardly did anything in it, but help Twilight briefly, while the rest of the Mane 6 got more screen-time, and dialogue.
Speaking of which, I still remember the days back when some fans felt “Twilight was ruining the show/always stealing the spotlight,” calling her a “Mary-Sue,” and such… Then suddenly recently, I’m starting to see some turn around, and say the opposite, like “There’s not enough Twilight in the show,” or try to claim episodes like “Trivial Pursuit” are “abusive” to Twilight, and “prove the show staff must hate her, and are evil.” (Mama mia…)
That’s another thing that bugs me when fans try to accuse the official DHX staff of being “Satan” anytime something bad happens to any character they like…
So fans can’t even agree on what’s “wrong” with the show.
@Beau Skunky
I remember at one point I got into an argument with someone who was saying that she was taking over the show during season 7 when she was already getting a reduced episode count she didn’t even get one and I think by that point she only had one episode at the time. The person claimed she was in every episode in a main way but refuse to actually explain how just telling me to watch the episodes
How many “episodes” did Starlight get in Season 9? Two? (And had to share the spotlight with other characters like Trixie, Maude, ect. so she wasn’t even the main focus. But it’s perfectly fine when those other characters “steal the spotlight” from the Mane 6. Just as long as, “It’s a character I like, then it’s not spotlight-stealing.”)
Regardless, Starlight-haters STILL insist Starlight is in every episode, and is STILL “stealing the spotlight,” and such. So you can’t really convince them that her role has been dialed back in the show. So honestly I think fans whom still insist this is the “Starlight Glimmer Show,” (I hate that tag…) probably haven’t watched much of it sense Starlight’s controversial reformation, or just have so much ridiculous hate for her, they get mad if she has one line of dialogue in an ep’. (Heck, some Starlight online hate-communities/sites people rant for hours if she even makes a non-speaking cameo, like in the movie.)
Sorry to rant, but I’m just surprised this Starlight drama is still going on. A friend of mine still refuses to watch any episode she’s in, and still wishes she’d “disappear.”
(Though, in fairness, the Starlight drama in general is not as bad as it used to be. It used to be so bad here on Derpi, you couldn’t upload one pic of her here without trolls spamming the typical hate comments of, “I hate her/she shuldz die/Mary-Sue!/Sunset should be in her place instead/ect.”)
Yeah, many people can be pretty fearful of changes you know. Many MLP fans are no exceptions.
It seems like many of MLP fans might have pretty low trust level on Hasbro back then.
G4.5 turns capitalism to communism by Starlight, eh?
Starlight Glimmer is so worshiped by many commie bronies as well. (Not a commie, but I do enjoy Glimmy)
The Glorious Supreme Leader Starlight shall take over Princess Twilight and her show, it was all according to Supreme Leader Starlight’s plan. She is seeking to build communism secretly in an alternative way. Beware, and may the capitalism be with you. (Joke)
@100SGX
It didn’t really start getting out of control, until you started complaining, and even then it wasn’t by that much. Things aren’t as heated here as in some forum threads. I’m sorry, but I don’t see why you’re getting so upset over this.
Also, I don’t want to create a thread on something so redundant. Besides, I tried making a MST3k discussion thread before, and a Super Smash Bros. RP thread in the RP forums before, but both got completely ignored, and lost in the sea of threads. So it’s almost pointless to even try posting a new thread.
||Somebody’s probably thinking of saying something trolly like, “Maybe nobody wants to talk to you.“||
@northern haste
Fans were making OC fan alicorn babies for them before Flurry was even announced. Some even assumed Princess Skyla from the toyline was going to be their daughter. So I don’t get why Princess Flurry Heart was such a shock for many fans.
Some actually still complain about her, even though she rarely ever shows up now.
@northern haste
According to most fans every character they hate is a “Su” of some sort.
@100SGX
Bullshit has been going on for years actually, nothing that new.
@Beau Skunky
I mean I remember someone saying she was shoehorned in I never understood was so shoehorned about a married couple having a baby and told us a season a headache time.
I’m not saying the cake twins was shoehorned in but at least they foreshadow flurry heart
