Now That’s What I Call never satisfied
My favorite one was people insisting that the dragon lands didn’t count because, and I quote, “they didn’t show the actual journey to get there.”
I do remember back in season 6 went people thought that the theme of the season was explore Equestria and people kept complaining that it wasn’t showing a lot of new locations even though that was just the name of current toy line. Looking at the toy line it was just old locations not new ones
Though the airdate just happening to land there was most likely a coincidence.
Yeah, that was handled more subtley. The twist episode when the CMC finally got their cutie-marks also tied nicely in it, (without being exactly tied to the toyline) and said episode was cleverly used to air on the exact fifth anniversary of the show’s original airdate.
@Beau Skunky
Also, while “Cutie Mark Magic” was a toyline thing during season 5, the godawful toys that had cutie marks plastered all over the characters were thankfully not in the show, and instead “cutie mark magic” was an actual story theme throughout the season.
Yeah, some really exaggerate how “toy-etic” the show is.
I do remember at the end of twilight’s kingdom people was saying thank god it’s never gonna show up again then couple of years years later I saw complaining that they didn’t use it
@Beau Skunky
I do remember shortly after season 5 endedseeing someone say that marketing took over the show after Faust left and that the last two finales were dominate my marketing even though the season 5 finale did not have a toy plug and rainbow power in season 4 only showed about the end. I can only assume he meant season 3 and 4 and even then Twilight got her wings in last 4 minutes of the episode
I understand, I guess I should’ve said “eleventh hour superpower,” or whatever you call it.
I actually liked it that they foreshadowed it throughout the season, that’s probably why Season 4 is one of my favorites.
Edited
Rainbow power wasn’t technically a deus ex machina they were building it up the entire season
Yeah, they could’ve done more with it, but I guess they didn’t wanna overdo the deus-ex-machina superforms.
I liked how fans started making “Rainbowfied” forms for other characters too, like Derpy, or the background six, and such.
And then of course Rainbow Power only ended up getting used one other time, and that was in a dream.
Not gonna lie, I was honestly disappointed about that.
She should have, if you ask me. :P
Should’ve had Applejack’s truck in the show. (It’s fuel could be the power of FRIENDSHIP! So anytime she gets in an argument with Rarity it breaks down. j/k)
In fact, there’s many other missed merchandise opportunities the show had. Heck, Faust’s original sketches for the Mane 6’s homes looked like they were designed with playsets in mind, but Hasbro never did them. (Until many years later when they did those miiniture kinda-flat ones.)
Yeah, the ex-fans that use that “it’s nothing, but a toy commercial” excuse to hate on the show are quite ignorant. (Not to mention, they love other “sell out” heavily-merchandised animated shows/movies.)
I even remember one trying to claim their “Rainbow Power” forms were going to be permanent redesigns in the show, yet when they finally appeared, they were only like that for 2 minutes in the whole blasted season.
(I even personally suspected they were only going to be temporary super forms, like their Crystal Pony forms, and tried to point that out to him, but he refused to listen…)
Ironically, some fans are on the opposite end too, and are upset that there isn’t merchandise of their newer favorite characters, that Applejack doesn’t have a hat, and such. They don’t think the show is a good enough toy commercial in the first place.
Edited because: Typo fix
One more thing I believe there are still a bunch of toys that have not appeared in the show or movie.
I mean tempest was not flying around in this thing in the movie >>1428091
Actually I remember back in it ain’t easy being breezy where people saying the mare six become breezies was a toy plug guess what toys I could not find?
Edited
I honestly don’t think Flurry counts as they didn’t have toys of her before she showed up. In fact, honestly I never saw any toys of her yet. Same for some other new characters. Honestly, the last toy-plug character we got was Sunset Shimmer, whom had toys (both pony & human) before even being introduced. Others didn’t get toys ‘till later.
Yeah, while eventually they had toys of the changelings, (much much later) there’s no toys of the reformed changelings, or anything yet.
Edited
We still get toy plugs obviously but most of the time the plugs is just sort out there the last blatant plug I think we got was rainbow power or maybe flurry heart but even then she barely shows up. I remember when people were saying that the new changelings were a toy plug and we still don’t have any toys on them.
What also hurts that argument is, we haven’t had many toy plugs in recent years. Ironically, some fans want toys of certain characters that have yet to get one.
@Jarkes
my guess is they can’t figure any actual ways of putting it into the story or any story.
also it’s always interesting seeing some people talk about how a toy wasn’t plugged in an episode after years of seeing people say that the show is just a toy commercial now and yes I know you two were not one of those people
I’m honestly surprised that it WASN’T in Road to Friendship.
Seriously, they should adapt their rocket into the show.
