The mother thing is a very interesting prospect. Like maybe its someone we have already seem as some point. Or its someone incredibly famous in the magic community. Or is a descendant of someone like Starswirl or Clover.

I hope them give more before the show ends. They’ve shown little pieces that make me really want to learn more about her past. Like that bedroom. 😎
 
It really highlights how little we really know about Glimmy’s past. Her mother. How she got her cutie mark. Where she got the idea for her cutie mark removal spell. Her learning to be the incredible mage she is now.

This is a fan made video of her past life, since Sunburst left, she’s been figuring out ways to gain friends, sadly all have failed, however this was before the parent map, so this might be outdated, and that video doesn’t show much, only her memory.

And the other ones they do have now only happened after they met each other. As if deetiny wouldn’t let them connect with anyone else until they cemented their friendships with each other. At which point it let them off the lease. It would fit with Starlight, who only started to make friends with others after she had connected with the other 6.

And it would really explain why she was never able to connect with anyone else as friends, because the appearance of her cutie mark would have set her destiny of meeting those who would end up being her truest friends.
 
 
Now that I think about it, do the other 6 even really have any true good friends outside of each other. Like Pinkie may say shes friends with everypony, but it doesn’t really seem like that beyond the most basic of friendships/acquatinces and throwing parties. And Twilight never really being true friends with those from Canterlot.

If we see more of past life (between sunburst leaving and teenage years), that would answer everything.

And the suppresion of the memory would make a hell of a lot of sense. She blamed cutie marks for her friend leaving, so the ultimate trauma would be her getting what she hated at that point.

That is an interesting idea, if we get a flashback of her during the Sonic rainboom, and if she gets her cutie mark during it, it could answer everything

My idea for if she becomes the 7th element. Remember how the Rainboom caused the cutie marks and changed the other 6 lives and set them on courses that would result in them meeting each other? What if Starlight also got her cutie mark during that event but had suppressed the memory cause she never wanted to get a cutie mark to begin with. Yet it still changed her life, taking her down her lonely dark path that would lead her into eventually meeting the other elements, who own cutie marks led them to her……
 
So it all happened for a reason in a way that would unite Starlight with the other 6.

The Tree of Harmony knew that Starlight would be needed so setcup the scenerio for her redemption.

I like her season 5 look better but that’s just my opinion

Sometimes even bad things happens for a reason, in the end things gone well for her and she made even some new friends (especially a great and powerful one!). And imagine Queen Chrysalis 2. Attack without Starlights new friends or her new life experiences

I can’t believe this, none of this wouldn’t happen if sunburst hadn’t abandoned her, leaving nothing for her except devastation.

Discord was “evil” too but discovered the Magic of Friendship and changed same as Starlight. It’s not bad to look back on previous seasons, where your favourite character is a “bad” or “evil” person - you can literally see their progress and in the end you are happy with their evolution.
 
What I am trying to say is don’t dislike a characters past, it’s a part of him/her but doesnt mean it’s her/him’s future
