I feel the same exact way about Rachnera in that. I love the Arachne up until the point I get a good look at their back, or lower front half.
 
The front half because of the mentioned legs issue, but the back is because the way the anime draws it, they make it look like Rachnera is a regular woman, with stunted legs attached by the ass to a spider. Past that the design is fine.
 
Centorea is waifu though.

And you can’t even argue that they might be pedipalps because they look nothing like pedipalps. They’re human legs covered in chitin.

I actually like what Monster Musume did with Rachnera’s design; her pedipalps are actually much shorter than the legs of a human her size would be. Yes, they look like legs, but if she didn’t have her spider body, her arms would be longer than her “legs”; she’d probably be even shorter than Papi or Suu.
 
This picture of spider-Rarity doesn’t do that, unfortunately, because her pedipalps are the same length as her legs would be if she were human, that is, too long.
 
As for “human upper half for a face”, centaurs and lamia have been doing that forever, just replace “face” with “head”.

This is not a drider. The tagging is incorrect in that respect.

man, I hate driers with limbs where human legs should be. It’s upper half human, lower half spider, not upper and lower half human with a spider for a tail!
 
you can kind of argue that they’re supposed to be the pedipalp, but then it’s even worse, since that makes it a spider with a human upper half for a face
